silencer
In genetics, a silencer is a DNA sequence capable of binding transcription regulation factors, called repressors. DNA contains genes and provides the template to produce messenger RNA (mRNA). That mRNA is then translated into proteins. When a repressor protein binds to the silencer region of DNA, RNA polymerase is prevented from transcribing the DNA sequence into RNA. With transcription blocked, the translation of RNA into proteins is impossible. Thus, silencers prevent genes from being expressed as proteins.RNA polymerase, a DNA-dependent enzyme, transcribes the DNA sequences, called nucleotides, in the 3' to 5' direction while the complementary RNA is synthesized in the 5' to 3' direction. RNA is similar to DNA, except that RNA contains uracil, instead of thymine, which forms a base pair with adenine. An important region for the activity of gene repression and expression found in RNA is the 3' untranslated region. This is a region on the 3' terminus of RNA that will not be translated to protein but includes many regulatory regions.
Not much is yet known about silencers but scientists continue to study in hopes to classify more types, locations in the genome, and diseases associated with silencers.

I'm going out on a limb and being optimistic about the HPA being passed, so I plan on stocking up on parts like tubes cones endcaps etc. before it passes and parts get harder to get. I know that once a hole is drilled in any endcap or cone, even freeze plugs they become a silencer part and...

When I hunt sage rats with a centerfire, at times the noise will put them down until a take a break. Since they are nongame, OSP told me a suppressor can be used. Has anyone noticed effects on accuracy, or velocity when using a suppressor on shots from 100-400 yards? Thinking about using one on...

I thought I'd pass along this video for those that might find it interesting. It covers a variant of the British Welrod .32 ACP, suppressed pistol. Parenthetically, the Small Arms Review tests the presenter references can be read here. Cheers!
Hello guys.
I am curious about the real world application of the law regarding transportation of NFA items such as silencers and short barreled rifles across state lines. I have my stamps on both now, a silencer and a SBR. I live on the south end of the Glen Jackson, and my favorite place to go...
So, I'm putting together my first post-41F Form 4 on a Trust paperwork. There are only two trustees (me and the Mrs). I figured I'd bounce it off the forum to confirm we're getting all the ducks in a row.
To the ATF
Form 4 (2 copies)
Copy of Trust (1 copy)
Responsible Persons form for me...
I'm curious anyone has even done a Form 1 suppressor project. I've only done SBRs and an SBS thus far, but I know some have built cans and, for that matter DDs and (pre-5/86) MGs.
Anyway, just wondering if anyone ever built a suppressor, and, if so, how did it turn out? Care to share pics of...
I am in the market for another suppressor and have landed on the silencerco hybrid. It's attractive due to its versatility, dB reduction and price. I currently own a GemTech sandstorm TI, and love it, however need something for my pistols.
I'm a little confused about the hybrid and its use of...

So I have an Omega in limbo, and when purchased from Silencershop, also purchased the M15x1 RH flash hider mount for an HK rifle. Well, SilencerShop just up and canceled that mount order . Their email to me:
We shipped out your can to your FFL, however, we were not able to fulfill your...

Hey all,
So I searched the forum and found another barrel threading thread in the Seattle area but 2 of the 3 smiths that were recommended do not do barrel threading and the thirds contact information seems to be bad. I live in the Bothell area but am fine with anything in the...
