I don't see this scenario happening out of the blue. There would be some sort of ramp up of loss of rights and significantly rising restrictions on the populace over time. It's similar to the boiling frog scenario. Dump a live frog into a pot of water. Toss it in while its boiling and it'll jump out. Let it gradually heat up... Bam!!! Too late, game over.

I am having fun so nothing personal. One of the frst human emotions that comes out is denial, this just can't be because it's not the way it works. It's the first day, you don't know what happened and like a lot of people there will be those that don't grasp what's next. Human nature, what will it be?

You can see the quandary waking up and not knowing who is in charge and with martial law in place until they tell you who is in charge its' a whole different scenario than a disaster or nuke.

I have former clients who will be shooting people down in the streets, until they get tired of reloading their magazines

Your scenario doesn't work for most of us because it doesn't fit. The way you're laying it out seems to me like an accelerated social experiment implemented by the elites behind the scenes for their amusement.

So let's add to this just the thought that if you do get out trying to do your normal day there is the threat you may be arrested. You don' know if the threat is real and you don't know if martial law has been declared all over the country. While you don't know if it's just local do you take the risk on this first day of the event of getting arrested? I am placing you in your worst problem at the moment and letting you solve the problems. It's going to get worse.

Well then yah sure. We'd head to the store. Chocolate (any & all), coffee (lots), peanut butter, lentils, beans, flour, cornmeal, oats, sugar, salt, tinfoil, wax paper, ziplocks, etc - the usual LTS stuff. Do not need any, but why not eh?

20lb propane tanks perhaps. Again don't need any more, but similar...why not?

We have off main roads to get to big box stores, and would use appropriate judgement. I'd find it highly unlikely that local LEO would put up road blocks day 1, without any reasoning behind doing so.

90+% of folks would not know of a "martial law" in that type of scenario—-the normal way they communicate are offline. So most folk would be out and about. The ones who know would be stocking up as well. It would not be "New England snow storm pandamonium" at the stores in the early hours of this, because folk wouldn't know.

If they did, then it's an easy roundabout back. Worse case leave the SUV if stopped on the way home and walk. Trucks there.

I like to do a scenario what if's for different situations that I think are likely. Like what to do for fires, earthquakes, riots, etc with standard FEMA/Ready.gov checklists and POC sheets for the entire family. I'd like to get more of my extended family involved, but the last time I showed some of them my emergency binder and asked for data and input I got accused of being a paranoid schizophrenic for a year or two.

If they're true friends vs acquaintances then welcome them! Tell them to bring all the food they plan on eating. Extra hands, eyes & ears could only be a good thing, with there stomachs full on what they bring...

Some of both. Problem is even with them being great friends or family some of them I wouldn't trust in a scenario like this. There would be people saying you can't shoot others to protect what you have. IMHO in a situation like this or any SHTF scenario you would need to be a really good judge of charactor so that they don't try to over take you and your stores.

At some point you would need to sleep and trust the people around you to not let others in. It would be a tough decision but one that would need to be made for the survival of those around you. Like minded people would be a necessity.

I just do not see how a coup would work nowadays. A Political takeover? Not likely. Too many different important big things would have to come together time on target for a Political coup to occur.

Now a national natural or world wide disaster? Yeah, I can see that happening. But all of this is very low probability of happening and even lower probability of lasting or sticking. Just me here.

Absolutely need folks all on the same page so to speak.

On top of that house rules apply or get out rite now & no coming back.

That helps to take care of spouses/kids whom may not be up to speed on the true aweful that the world can throw around.

You and yours might have to make some tough calls, as would we. And we would.

Actually I thought it up over the news of the day, there is a lot going on and you could wake up tomorrow with the Republic gone. I am 65 and never seen the things that are going on in my lifetime. When the FBI and DOJ can use a phoney document in an effort to throw out an elected president, when a special counsel is called with out a crime to be focused on then you have lost the republic.

So that's where I started the thread and for it to be entertaining you guys have to think it can happen...even when it is.
