You are doing good work, I hope you guys are enjoying my mind bender here. Not many posters so I guess not many enjoy this kind of scenario so I guess I need to ramp it up where they get to use their gear some.

These are excellent training exercises. Table top scenarios. We use them in the fire service a lot. We say that we get a 2 alarm residential fire that requires 5 engines and a truck, maybe tenders if rural. Then at the same time we have a casino bus turn over with 40 plus injuries, and then get 3 medical calls in town. Whatca going to do ??

City: I get together with my other neighbors and use my solar powered pool pump and put the fire out before it really gets started.

Better not be much of a fire. Probably better to just piss on it.

Day three, the Republic is finished and you dont' know who fired the nukes that created the EMP blast that pretty much shut everything down. Bicycles and feet for the most part, no food deliveries to the stores, no fuel comming and the roads jammed with thousands of dead cars. Nothing can get to the stores for months. No medicine for the sick and diabetes medicine unavailable, no inhalers no ammo to buy and no guns to buy. You are back just above the stoneage with only the preps you made to live on...unless you forage for more.

You have no idea if it was a foreign government or a coup of our own but now it's you and your skills vs a unknown world. Might be while we fought each other an enemy decided to kill us off over time as the EMP does its thing and then they invade to turn the rest to slaves at best. Or it might have been a coup of our government by those who saw themselves losing power and going to jail for corruption. The world you knew won't be back for decades if at all, might have been better to work together than to watch it come down on our heads. Last post.

Basically we're going to become a lot more Amish and a lot less Hollywood.

Don't you worry....our politicians will be back to screwing us over in no time!
We just got to repair things 'cuz we don't need to invent them again, recovery will be quicker than you think.
Oh, and there's going to be a WHOLE LOT fewer deadbeats for a good while.

AAAAHHHHHH!!!! We're all gonna die horribly of terrible diseases, murdered in our beds, friendless, starving, unloved and alone and unable to remember or figure out how electricity and the internal combustion engine work or even how to fix things.

Being who & what I am, I'll continue to do my best to provide for those around me. But if a scenario like this ever does happen here, we'll definitely be relying on each other more than we do now. Fortunately, I have good neighbors.

I don't see this scenario happening out of the blue. There would be some sort of ramp up of loss of rights and significantly rising restrictions on the populace over time. It's similar to the boiling frog scenario. Dump a live frog into a pot of water. Toss it in while its boiling and it'll jump out. Let it gradually heat up... Bam!!! Too late, game over.

When I was a kid (maybe 10 years old) in Silsbee Texas, I decided to put that boiling-water-jumping-frog business to the test.

Uncle Clayton had his water heater set way too high, and if you weren't careful you could scald yourself when you started to wash your hands.

I caught a frog, took it into Unc's bathroom, and filled up the sink with scalding-hot water. Dropped the frog in, and after one quick spasm it was dead. Tried to revive it with cold water, but no luck. It was dead as a door nail.
