Whenever the wife asks this I just say to her
"Uhhhhh OK Imelda Marcos" then walk away.

No details needed! This person sounds exactly like my ultra lib cousin. He used to send me data and stats about 'gun violence' - and all of it 'slanted' of course to mean less guns, less 'gun violence' (what very little I actually looked at).

He decided to sever all contact with me a while back - and most say it was a good thing....
He is a self-proclaimed Democratic Socialist, so I started calling him Comrade and he stated something to the effect of how that is an outdated term from the Communist Cold War era to which I replied that he must not have seen any of the footage from his party's convention where they were constantly referring to each other as comrade.

He's a good friend and an intelligent guy, we just don't agree politically.

why do I own so many guns?

Savage 99 was my first deer rifle
Then I got a Remington 700 on 25-06 because the 99 is an heirloom
Then I got a .338 for elk
Then I got a .300 WM because the 338 was heavy
Then I got a Ruger No 1 in 7mm STW because it was lighter than the .300
I got a Henry 22 to teach my son to shoot
Then I got a 308 so he could hunt with me and on and on…

I could do the same with shotguns and handguns

I quit discussing the issue with libs some time ago. Then I get an internal chuckle when recently they started to ask me to take them shooting. As for as my dear wife, she finds comfort in having a couple firearms around, and just got her own (G43X). She doesn't ask when gun parts or ammo or cigars show up, and I don't ask when stained glass and art supplies show up. We get along wonderfully...❤

I had a now ex-girliefriend ask why I collected guns and if I'd ever have enough to give it up.

I said "well, I guess I'll start collecting cars instead. I'll need you to get a $250k+/yr job, a massive shop/garage and probably a few acres for spare parts cars."

Guns it is.

But do they still maintain 'some' gun control positions?

With regard to my lib cousin he is NOT anti gun but has very confusing ideas about what should or should not be banned.
I view it as an opportunity to teach. Surprising how attitudes change when people realize they just might have to be their own first responder. Situation depending, I've also recommended they take the "Intro to Handguns" class at Safefire.

The right tool for the right job!
Plays well for me. I'm also the guy who has three large rolling tool cabinets, three workbenches, and several rolling boxes for electric, drywall, paint, plumbing, tile, irrigation and just cables and chargers. :s0059:

Got "THE QUESTION" from my ex fiancé one day.

Side note...there's a reason she is the EX fiancé.

Mind you, she loved to shoot...and was actually pretty good at it. She had never exhibited any anti-gun tendencies, so it was actually a bit surprising to me.

Anyway, the conversation went like this...

Her: Just how many guns do you have anyway?

Me to Me: *Oh, this probably isn't going to be good*

Me to Her: 14 Sweetie... *and yes I know those are rookie numbers!*

Her: 14! What does anyone need 14 guns for!?

Me: *silent*

Her: Hmm...well...I guess it's ok since you really don't spend money on much else

Me to Me: *Don't say it! Just keep your mouth shut and be quiet!*

Me to Her: Um...thanks...But I didn't ask for your permission on this.

Her: *stern look*

Me: *taking her hand and leading her to her closet* Sweetie! Just how many pairs of black shoes do you have anyway?

Her: *giving me THE LOOK*

Me: Let's count them shall we! 1, 2...15...23...26! Just why does anyone NEED 26 pairs of black shoes!?

Her: *DEATH STARE!*

Me: Sweetie, I'm so glad we had this conversation today. I feel so much closer to you!

No woman would last very long with me if she said something about how much money I spent on anything, unless it was to object about spending money on her. I have earned every penny I have (not including an inheritance), and it is nobody's business what I spend it on.

Slightly different, but my friend was arguing for banning "assault weapons" when I went to visit him in TN a few years back. He angrily asked, "Why do you NEED an assault rifle?!" To which I replied, "Why do you NEED a two story, 4000 square foot home and two luxury cars Comrade? 'Cause freedom... bish."
Here's a shirt for your friend...

Nobody Needs An Ar15? Well, Nobody Needs A Whiny Little Bitch Either, Yet Here You Are. T-Shirt and motorcycle shirts

Because I want them.

I don't need an excuse.

Of course I've also stopped counting, as it may make me reconsider another purchase.
