Concealed carry, or carrying a concealed weapon (CCW), is the practice of carrying a weapon (such as a handgun) in public in a concealed manner, either on one's person or in close proximity. Not all weapons that fall under CCW laws are lethal. For example, in Florida, carrying pepper spray in more than a specified volume (2 oz.) of chemical requires a CCW permit, whereas everyone may legally carry a smaller, “self-defense chemical spray” device hidden on their person without a CCW permit. As of 2019 there have been 18.66 million concealed weapon permits issued in the United States. There is no federal statutory law concerning the issuance of concealed-carry permits. All 50 states have passed laws allowing qualified individuals to carry certain concealed firearms in public, either without a permit or after obtaining a permit from a designated government authority at the state and/or local level; however, there are still many states that, though they have passed concealed carry permit laws, do not issue permits or make it extremely difficult to obtain one.
A comprehensive 2004 literature review by the National Academy of Sciences concluded that there was no evidence that concealed carry either increases or reduces violent crime. Subsequent research has indicated that right-to-carry laws either have no impact on violent crime, that they increase violent crime, or that they decrease violent crime. Research has been mixed and disputed as a result.

What was John M. Brownings carry gun?

Did he carry? Did he have a favorite, or did he change up as he saw fit? Curious minds want to know. Guesses are good, historical reference is better. Personally, as much as I'd like to envision him toting a 1911, realistically a Colt 1908 would better suit him.

Anyone else verify accuracy of their carry gun at longer distances?

I like to bench rest my pistols at 25 yards to see what they are capable of and establish a benchmark of sorts, so when I do the defensive shooting at closer distances, or off-hand shooting at longer distances, I know that it's me and not the pistol. I do the same when deciding upon a carry...

    Carry gun suggestions

I currently have an SCCY 1 9mm pistol. I I had hoped to use it as a carry gun but it has got the worst trigger pull of any firearm I have ever used. I guess that is what to expect when you go cheap. Looking for suggestions on compact or sub compact 9mm pistol that have a decent trigger pull...
