riots
A riot () is a form of civil disorder commonly characterized by a group lashing out in a violent public disturbance against authority, property or people.
Riots typically involve destruction of property, public or private. The property targeted varies depending on the riot and the inclinations of those involved. Targets can include shops, cars, restaurants, state-owned institutions, and religious buildings.Riots often occur in reaction to a grievance or out of dissent. Historically, riots have occurred due to poverty, unemployment, poor living conditions, governmental oppression, taxation or conscription, conflicts between ethnic groups, (race riot) or religions (sectarian violence, pogrom), the outcome of a sporting event (sports riot, football hooliganism) or frustration with legal channels through which to air grievances. While individuals may attempt to lead or control a riot, riots typically consist of disorganized groups that are frequently "chaotic and exhibit herd behavior." There is a growing body of evidence to suggest that riots are not irrational, herd-like behavior, but actually follow inverted social norms.Dealing with riots is often a difficult task for police forces. They may use tear gas or CS gas to control rioters. Riot police may use less-than-lethal methods of control, such as shotguns that fire flexible baton rounds to injure or otherwise incapacitate rioters for easier arrest.
Today I stumbled on this interview with the guy who took the police rifles from those rioters 2 years ago. The guy does a great job of recounting the situation, what decisions he made and why he made them, and a lot of other contextual stuff that happened off camera both before and after. Not...

So, what about a thread about physical, practical preparations for one's home, surrounding (e.g., yard, acreage, outbuildings or whatever), and/or...

I've been doing some reading about the tumultuous civil rights moment. There was plenty of civil unrest in that era and, of course, before and afterward. Which brings up a question: are there any accounts (be it recorded in a book, news article, documentary, or other media) of private...
Given the politically charged environment we find ourselves in, I've been thinking more and more about defense against a violent mob or group of angry protestors. There have been numerous cases of defensive gun usage lately involving this topic, and I strongly suspect we will see more mob- and...
Yet another officer-involved shooting in Minnesota, this time in Burnsville, a suburb on the southern edge of the Twin Cities metro area. I am willing to bet good money there will be no looting, no rioting, no calls for defunding the police (though I would have loved to have seen a social worker...
Back during the summer months I read this article and stumbled across it again. It is photographs of Korean—Americans defending their business establishments during the 1992 Los Angeles riots which, naturally, was one of the most destructive civil disturbances in US history. Anyway, I thought...
I highly doubt they will be charged. They didn't use the no-knock warrant, the boyfriend shot at them through the door, they shot back, well within their rights. Once there is an announcement there are no charges, get ready for chaos. Then again, with the way things are, you will be charged for...
THIS IS NOT A BUG OUT OR GET HOME BAG THREAD IT'S ABOUT WHAT YOU CARRY SPECIFICALLY FOR THE CURRENT THREATS.
What I am carrying in there now due to unrest and the virus:
I carry spare N95 masks and hand sanitizer in my car and a bag I take with me if I leave the house which is rare (I work...
