We need to keep in mind that simply because someone is barking nutz...
...doesn't automatically mean that they are also stupid or incompetent.

example 1; Some can be smart/clever enough to formulate and follow an intricate plan to blow up a school. Crazy is when he actually decides to do it just because the local supermarket no longer stocks his favorite brand of toilet paper or a no parking sign said "do it now".

example 2; Is able to become a University Professor yet always votes Democrat.

How many hammers did they find? Maybe the roll of tape on the table was used to cover the window from the inside, then break the glass and pull it back inside the room so as not to alert the people below with the falling glass? If so there are probably lots of finger prints on the tape that may have been used? Maybe more than one set of identifiable prints? Why would you need multiple hammers? Why not just use the but of a gun to break the glass, or something else heavy in the room for that matter?

Sorry my brain just puked up some random thoughts and ideas after seeing this picture.
Also there could be a note or a blank piece of paper?

My son and i ran a few tests today while out and about between hospitals, and while nothing earth shattering, we did come to a few reasonable conclusions. A 200 by 200 foot patch at 400 meters is a pretty easy shot at any elevation and deflection angle, but the same patch at night is an entirely diffrent deal, depth perception changes, the flashing lights obscure the target area and cause distraction, and the size and position of the stage obscures quite a bit of the kill zone! We have a few rifles we have seen so far with what look like 20 inchers, so that fixes the range issues, and with optics, would cure some of the issues, but amplify the light flashing and muzzle flash issues, still not enough to hang any truth on, but intresting enough for further looking!

Why even bother breaking the glass, just shoot it amd keep on rockin and rollin! You could also just punch the muzzle into a window pane and it would probably do the trick as well! M855 does a really good job of breaking things, a window wouldnt be much of a challenge! Why even bother with a hammer, and why be concerned about folks below when your about to unleash hell on a group just a few hundred meters away! JMHO:)

I see backwards eothecs and scopes in a lot of Hollywood movies

23 firearms found inside the Mandalay Bay hotel room and an additional 19 firearms at his home in Mesquite, Nevada.

I wonder if he was supposed to have help (or did. Even hotel staff) explaining the extra number of guns. Maybe he was waiting for people that never showed up.

Also there has been little reporting of time periods. He bought firearms from several states which should not be possible in a short period of time. A millionaire buying many guns over years doesn't sound out of line though.

He had been stockpiling his 43 guns legally since 1982, according to Jill Snyder, special agent in charge at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.

"From October 2016 to September 28, 2017, he purchased 33 firearms, majority of them rifles"

After that 2011/12 lawsuit against another Casino, plus his almost daily gambling it sounds like he planed on taking out Las Vegas by either hitting it big or making them pay by violence.

I have purchased maybe 5 to 10 in that time period. If I had his money I would probably have purchased that many.

So good - they did a check of his purchase records and no mention of the firearms being on the NFA roles, so not legally purchased full-auto.

NPR was doing their news report on this the other day and saying that "machine guns are fairly rare". Yeah legally owned firearms that are capable of full auto are not common, but IIRC the number of NFA items processed each year is now in the millions, so I would bet full auto firearms legally owned is no small number.

Assuming it's true that this guy shoots through the door and hits a hotel security guy, and surveillance is thereafter maintained until the SWAT team arrives doesn't that make it highly unlikely he had someone else in the room helping? Am I missing something?

Paul Ryan pulled the SHARE Act from consideration.

I sort of understand, but BOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! The issues in that bill had nothing to do with this attack.

Yes - but that is politics, better to pull it now and bring it to the table again later than have it shot down in a vote now. No way it will pass if they vote on it this year.

The way these things go, this event will fade from the public's mind in a few months, to be replaced by something much less noteworthy - like how much Trump golfs or the email accounts his admin uses.

Just a little off topic, but we may not see the SHARE act again until after the 2018 elections.

Honestly, I really don't think they give a rip about passing it, any more than they really cared about repealing Obamacare. Now that they're in power, their true interests are clear - they're not interested in keeping their promises. They're probably happy this happened so they have yet another excuse not to act in our benefit.

I said before this will likely never pass, I believe that even more so now. I'd love for them to prove me wrong, but I won't hold my breath.

Who knows, but prior to the police engagement. He'd been there several days. He could have had help. Even if they were innocent without knowledge, would anyone step up and say "I helped"?

This morning ABC Good Morning America finally showed some pics from inside the hotel room of the Vegas shooter. The first clear pic to show what he was using. Not sure of the brand, but clearly an AR style rifle with an 18-20" barrel and a Surefire 100 round stick mag. He had several other Surefire mags stacked and loaded. The stack had 16 x 100 round mags. They showed some guns on a couch but there were a few stacked on each other and you could not make out what they were. They did say that he also had a shotgun and a couple of hand guns. He was ready for a close range fire fight. I can already see that the mag issue is going to be a nation wide deal with the Feds. At this point if you have any mag greater than 30 rounds you better stash it now. Drums too!

This audio seems to support the contention of multiple shooters because the near simultaneous and distinctive shooting seems to occur from two different directions. This is audio from a taxi cab and within the video appears to be an ongoing background police or scanner activity. What do you think?
