Something that shoots NATO rounds and rounds which are common with LEOs. If things got really bad and stayed that way for years, not months, I figure I'd have to scrounge ammo eventually.
9mm is our (NATO) military handgun ammo, I believe? .40 S&W is common with LEOs, who often also have shotguns?
7.61 and 5.56 NATO, not 308 and 223 unless you know more than I do and believe the NATO rounds are fine in the 308 and 223 civilian rifles. ??
About bears. I've lived and hunted in the Oregon woods all of my life and I've seen two black bears in the wild not counting in refuges and places like Yellowstone. Neither of them wanted trouble from me. I'm going to be far more worried about people.
To answer the question, I want a 9mm handgun, an AR-15 in 5.56 (some are stamped 223 I believe?) and my Remington Nylon 66 .22 LR.
