prepping
Survivalism is a social movement of individuals or groups (called survivalists or preppers) who proactively prepare for emergencies, including natural disasters, as well as disruptions to social, political, or economic order. Preparations may anticipate short-term scenarios or long-term, on scales ranging from personal adversity, to local disruption of services, to international or global catastrophe. Survivalism may be limited to preparing for a personal emergency, such as job loss or being stranded in the wild or under adverse weather conditions. The emphasis is on self-reliance, stockpiling supplies, and gaining survival knowledge and skills. Survivalists often acquire emergency medical and self-defense training, stockpile food and water, prepare to become self-sufficient, and build structures such as survival retreats or underground shelters that may help them survive a catastrophe.
Use of the term survivalist dates from the early 1980s.
Doing some Spring Cleaning and making some space!
Got this a while back thinking I would have more use for it, but really only ever used it at a couple LAN parties. It works great and is in perfect like-new condition. Comes with all the manuals, mounting hardware, and even the product...
Moving out of state and selling bulk food supply that have already been packed for long term storage, you won't need to repack unless you want to inspect or reseal. Time packed around July 2019, most items have 10 year shelf life (much longer for dried grains). Almost all produce came from...
I've been trying to get more active in shooting and am also more interested in finding other gun owners in the area (Hillsboro, OR) due to the recent virus panic and rioting. I'm interested in pro-2A issues but also would just like to meet other people interested in guns and limited government...
Hi All,
Haven't been active on the board for a couple years, but I was in the past.
I'm looking to join (or start?) a prepping group in the Oregon City area. Looking for mutual benefit, sharing knowledge, group buys on supplies, mutual assistance in SHTF, etc. I'm a Paramedic and a Ham and...

I was talking with a woman here in Salem the other day about prepping. I was buying several large cases of bottled water and she was asking if I was having an event. When I told her I was replacing some emergency supplies I'd gotten into, she made some snide comments ridiculing "preppers". I...

Howdy!
New to reloading, and haven't even started reloading rifle yet. That will be a while.
Just curious on how you go about prepping 7.62x51 military surplus brass which has crimped primer pockets? Because I have a whole bunch once fired, Hirtenberger.
Looks like such deprimed:

If Prepping Isn't Fun Then You're Doing it Wrong!
An excerpt:
"How many gardeners complain about raising a garden? Not many, most do it because it’s fun and they like the challenge of planting, nurturing and harvesting. Same goes for hunters...
Well howdy to the reloading community and great wealth of knowledge.
I started reloading earlier this year and have gained much knowledgeable experience prepping close to 800 cases for my AR.
My next project is reloading for my handgun in 40 Smith & Wesson.
I've looked at the information and...
I'm new to this forum so I may be asking a question that has been discussed at length already. We are currently at odds over where prepare to go in a SHTF situation. We have a very comfortable home and shop on 1 acre, fruit trees, nice garden area and shallow well producing a lot of water...
This can save a LOT of time and confusion.

Someone put an incredible amount of time and thought into this. Well worth saving...
From everything I could find, Kerosene, "Synthetic" lamp oil and Kleen-heat all have a 3 year shelf life.
Is there a shelf stable lamp/heater fuel or an additive to make it so?
BTW, I found this long-term 2 cycle fuel...
A bit of reading required here. But well worth it. Much of it can be considered "Problem Two" - what to do AFTER your physical preps are in place.
Ok you've already got the nine B's (Berkey (i.e. water), beans, bullets, bandaids, batteries, bullion, books, barter, beliefs) then it's time to...
This guy has Figured It Out. I learned quite a lot from the article.

My choice so far has been to store cigarette papers for barter, but I may buy and store some of this pipe tobacco now. Got to look at the rolling machines he...
