Military grade weapons in the hands of The People is THE point of the 2A.So if common sense gun control is keeping military grade weapons out of the hands of civilians, who has the common sense in this case?

Probably correct. What is more likely, our enemies will continue to buy up domestic assets here until they own most of everything that counts. Including the forces of law and order.I also don't think a civil war or a war from a foreign government hit our soil..
Sargeant? For protection, Dimslee has 8 state troopers and one Seargent protecting him with weapons of war.
Fixed it for you.
Perhaps a fine point, however, The 2A is a proscription on Government, not a permission to The People. At the risk of causing a ruckus....
I would argue that you don't need to own anything....much less firearms.
Nothing in the 2nd Amendment states that you have to or need to do anything.
It simply states that one can do something.
Speaking only for myself here...as in my perspective , my interpretation ( Oh that word ) is this....
Own whatever firearms you wish....or not.
Just don't make that choice for me or others.
In any event...
Unlike many things....my mind is made up on this and I am not flexible in my thinking that :
One should be able to own whatever firearms one wants or not , as the case may be.
Just as it is wrong for someone to tell me what I can or cannot own firearm wise.
So....please save the bandwith on the forum , for something worth arguing about...as I will not be changing my mind on this matter.

They are wrong.A not insignificant number of Americans, and much of the world too; seem to believe that the 2A really reads as "a well regulated military being necessary for a Free state; the right of the State to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed" (where militia=military and where People=the government)
Nothing says :
"Go away and leave me alone "
Like a M18A1 Claymore mine...
Andy
Agreed but still doesn't make it any different that a not insignificant number of Americans thinks this wayThey are wrong.
Joe
Sigh.....
Whatever....give it a rest....
Or go grip it and rip it with out involving me anymore.
Andy
Okay, that right there is terrifying.No. some darpa AI robots can survive off of organic material.
I was teasing another member that was arguing blindly and not reading anything....Military grade weapons in the hands of The People is THE point of the 2A.

VerticalScope?Everybody thought Palpatine was a great guy, too, until he started closing threads on the intergalactic blaster forums.
And they can be wrong too.Unfortunately, it doesn't matter much what the Framers intended.. only what 9 lawyers in black robes agree on.
Nowhere have I stated that we need permission to do anything....in this thread or anywhere else.Perhaps a fine point, however, The 2A is a proscription on Government, not a permission to The People.
(Apologies to GInRI)

It seems reading comprehension isn't as common as we may hope.Nowhere have I stated that we need permission to do anything....in this thread or anywhere else.
If you are going to quote me...at least get it right.
Andy
Yes but their orders and decisions tend to carry the weight of law unlike your and mine opinions/beliefs of the 2A, unfortunatelyAnd they can be wrong too.
Joe
Post 131...post 143 is also relevant. It simply states that one can do something.
