The "Liberator" a CAD designed pistol printed on 3D printer is successfully fired

A 3D CAD model of a handgun, printed from a consumer 3D printer, with a "hardware store" nail for a firing pin. And apparently it works.

They are calling it the Liberator -- and they are making the design files freely available.

Guns just went open source -- it is no fantasy, pretty soon anyone will be able to "print" themselves a working firearm.

Back in the day the radio antenna off a car was used with block of wood, spring, nail to make a zip gun, .22 lr caliber. It might be primary reason the auto makers went away from hollow radio antennas, as the antenna from the 1950's was perfect for .22 lr barrel.
