Orlando, Florida jury finds Matthew Apperson guilty of attempted murder with a firearm of George Zimmerman. The jury rejects his defense attorney's arguments that Zimmerman is a pathological liar, violent, and instigated their confrontation, requiring Apperson to shoot in self-defense.
Key evidence showed that the windows of Zimmerman's car were heavily tinted, and that a person could thus not have seen Zimmerman pointing a gun at the defendant, as the defendant alleged. A nearby security camera also captured video of Apperson chasing Zimmerman's car and attempting to catch up with him.
Apperson fired a single shot from a .357 magnum revolver through the closed window of Zimmerman's vehicle, shattering it. The bullet barely missed Zimmerman's face, and lodged itself into the car's frame.
Although initially freed on bond pending trial, Apperson has been waiting these past months for his trial in jail because he violated his bond by committing another crime: urinating on his neighbor's front door after getting into a heated argument with him over a minor dispute.
Jury finds George Zimmerman shooter guilty on all counts
