I watched an interview with a person who got out of the club and he talked about how he just couldn't believe that it could happen here and how he'd never thought about this happening here and the reality of it.

Welcome to the real world and the rest of the world. They say it every day, "Kill the Infidel" Words mean something.

The victims families need to sue the venue for failing to protect them - if you deny the right to self defense, then you must provide it.

The other concern I see is how many venues shut down the discussion on this issue - most publicly Reddit. Sure, there was hate language and wrong information. But what constitutes the public square in electronic media ?
Reddit /r/guns put a 24 hour cooling off period in place. Reddit's /r/news was banning commentators and deleting posts.

My concern is that politicians need to do something. Much like those standing in line to donate blood. They don't really - may be a cooling off period before looking at the failures in security - I'm looking at you FBI.

If true, how does a guy on the no-fly list work for the DHS (for a contractor to DHS) handling illegal aliens?

And remember, this was ended by a good guy with a gun.

Censorship, there goes the First Amendment....

Second Amendment is under even more serious attack now...

And y'all think we're still going to have an election in November huh?

The descriptions that I am reading about what happened just don't seem to add up in my opinion.

There are accounts that there was a police officer at the entrance, who immediately engaged the gunman in a gunfight. Supposedly, two nearby police officers soon joined in. Reports state that the gunman then retreated to a restroom with 5 hostages.

But if all of that is true, then how did they end up with 100 people shot? This just does not seem to make any sense to me.

Here is a timeline published by the New York Times:

Today, in a speech that got her a standing ovation, Hillary Clinton singled out and condemned the AR-15 rifle.

She labeled the rifle "a weapon of war", and also "a terrorist weapon". She cited 3 infamous mass shootings that involved an AR-15 rifle.

Small point, you walk into a no exit building with a 12 guage shotgun and a bag of 00 buck or a 10/22 or a 30/06 or a 300 win mag or a S&W 686 and speed loaders, it doesn't really matter, it's going to be a bad day for the unarmed expecially if there are 300 targets in front of you.

Totally agree, too many holes in the sequence of events and no mention of the three police officers who were involved with the initial engagement...

Still call it the false flag event it is, it's all about pushing the agenda forward... They want to tie the no-fly list to firearms background checks.. This is how it'll come to be...

How was it the purp continued to slip through the FBI's fingers..

1+1+1 does not equal 7...

We're gonna have at least 2 more days of the 24-hour media orgy as they wallow in this tragedy and make as much advertising and ratings money as they possibly can off of it.

Then the true test of the nation's mood will start to emerge.

I feel bad for the families and survivors having to be subjected to this constant wallow-fest; the media does it every time and it's just sickening.

SO, in nut shell, We ( the anti's) wanna ban us from owning Arm to protect our selves. They expect us to follow the rule of law, turn over our arms, and submit to a false sense of security which they have not bothered to pledge,Or provide! Instead they expect us to submit to Gun Free zones ( weapon Free zones) And to go about our daily lives with out fear of something just like this happening in a town or city near you! Never mind that we have a group of zealots bent on the utter destruction of us as a people, they do not follow rule of law, they don't care what our laws are, they do not care if we ban weapons, they will continue unabated in there quest to destroy the very foundations of a free society called the United States of America, never mind the rest of the "modern world" they will continue to wage never ending war upon us as long as we do nothing to stop them! Making any argument towards gun control even in the wake of this tragedy is just plain irresponsible, How about going after the people that want to kill Americans, How about waging war on those that harbor a hatred so deep it can never be beaten, with out utter destruction? Eliminating a terrorists ability to obtain weapons would be the first and only limits I would be willing to accept as gun control, Eliminating my GOD GIVEN RIGHT TO LIFE, is unacceptable to me and every other free man!!! Preventing me from owning a means of self preservation while doing NOTHING to stop those who wish to do me harm is unacceptable to me!

I'm still not sure that Sandy Hill wasn't the same.
Some rag somewhere would have paid millions to anyone at the coroners office for picture of those kids. Never head anything about them being released.
Never really saw the bodies, just something covered in the parking lot. Too too many things didn't add up.
I guess we'll see if this one does.
It did give fodder for the antis though, didn't it?

Very sad, .....I've been on the road so seen very little coverage of this. At first blush , arm your self whenever you leave the bunker, uh house. 2. They will use this to attempt to disarm you and dflect away from another bad acting radical Islamist. Finally, the response was way too late and how many civvies did the terrorist kill and how many were by friendly fire?

I know I am gong to get even more serious about the safety of me and mine.

For those that suggest suing the venue, or that it's the venue's fault for not allowing CCW, you should redirect your ire towards the State of Florida. They were following the law.

<broken link removed>

Further, even with a CWFL these weapons may not be carried concealed in the following places, pursuant to Section 790.06(12)(a), Florida Statutes:
  • Any portion of an establishment licensed to dispense alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises, which portion of the establishment is primarily devoted to such purpose. (Unfortunately, this law is ambiguous and appears to be subject to interpretation with regard to restaurants with bars or other places licensed to serve alcohol which serve other purposes such as casinos and other places of entertainment. We have researched this issue including contacting the concealed weapons division of the Florida Department of Agriculture and have received this <broken link removed> . While this letter and its opinion are not authoritative, the general sense is that concealed weapons may be legally carried by a CWFL holder into a business that serves alcohol but not as a primary business, however a concealed weapons carrier should stay out of portions of that business where the service of alcohol is the primary function, i.e., the bar area of a restaurant.)

That's why I haven't been contributing as much, I'm still in shock and VERY Pizzed off! This shouldn't be happening here in America! We should be sad hearing about these things in other countries, Not Here!!! This is just insanely wrong on so many levels!!! Back when we had Regan, this would be dealt with decisively!
