The article I read said he had an extended magazine which is obviously illegal in California. How he got it we don't know. The fact is it's looking rough out there right now and their solution is to just blanket take every gun from every law-abiding owner. That's the only way they think that we can solve this. And obviously that solution is garbage
It likely would not have made much difference. It doesn't appear any one tried to take him out during his mag changes.

I also saw that this was a country bar and that it was a local Lutheran College that most frequently patronize the bar. So... Can we infer the most of the victims were white, middle class, Christians? Could this be considered a hate crime? And who was the guy on a political level?
I am not sure how lutheran college gals dress now a days but the gals I saw in background shots were dressed very lightly.

Another tragic event that will lead to more bad laws like I-594 & I-1639. When Mental health policies and getting Veterans the help they need should be center stage.

And why does it always seems to come back to a known mental health issue, that nothing was done about?

Condolences to the families impacted by this horrid event. Agreed, the perp's name should die with him.

And extended magazines in California? But, but, they were banned a long time ago. Another gun control success story!

Gun control is always a success. It criminalizes gun owners and keeps people from being able to protect themselves. That's their goal.

I don't think the bar was specific to that school. Only mentioned that the Lutheran College was nearby and many of their students frequented the bar. Also, you're going to get the range at those schools.

You know I would understand if these weapons suddenly became autonomous or transformed into a robot and started shooting things that we seriously have a problem. The only problem I see is that people are trying to push their agenda on other people. Maybe those people need to read up on history and figure out that's how this nation was founded. With people that had to take up arms and fight for their rights. Maybe if California wasn't such a f'd up hole being transformed into the state of idiocracy then that piece of crap would have been like Arnold in last action hero where everybody pulled their weapon on him at the funeral. I'm just ranting. Maybe it could have been worse. At least he saved a round for himself. How nice!

Mental Health Care is expensive and stigmatized. No one wants to be "crazy," and no politician wants to be seen as taking money away from "important" issues or raising taxes to fund real solutions. It's more expedient to pander to the emotional voters that one is Doing Something about guns, despite evidence clearly to the contrary. It's not about helping our veterans, it's about getting re-elected by any means necessary and we're an easy target for hot-button anti-gun sentiment. It's only going to increase until we are all driven underground. At that point I hope others will finally realize the problem is with our politicians, not inanimate objects. It's going to be a long road, so we need to keep it up and vote every time. Stay safe, cuz it's gonna get weird.

Instant forgetting of the perp.

That's fine except the fact that he was a veteran. This will likely result in cries for removal of firearms from veterans, esp those with PSTD or other adjustment issues. Things will get worse for veterans since they already do not want to seek help because of stigmatization... now they likely will have to face loss of rights.

The latest article says he had a handgun and swapped mags a couple times. More than likely he had 10 round mags and just reloaded a couple time.

Apparently he had one mag change. A witness said it took like "6 seconds". That would be a slow mag change for a trained shooter where it would be more like 2-3 sec. Try it.

Its about time for country folk to wake up and realize we are a target now.

Yes, just listen to the stupidity about gerrymandering of Senate seats being batted around after the recent election. The vast area of Red states is being complained about since the coastal Blue states hold a population advantage. Everybody gotta have an enemy I suppose.

It likely would not have made much difference. It doesn't appear any one tried to take him out during his mag changes.

Might not have been able to see him well in the smoke. But yeah, a 6 sec mag change would be a lot of opportunity for a solid takedown. Too many snowflakes at a country bar?

"In April this year, deputies were called to the home he shared with his mother after neighbors heard loud crashes coming from inside. He was acting 'irrationally' and was 'irate' so police called in their mental health specialist but they cleared him, deciding against having him committed. Neighbors told DailyMail.com on Thursday that his mother Colleen was 'terrified' he was going to harm himself or others."

Bottom line is, there was an individual with apparently severe mental issues that was left with access to a firearm.
