Personally I don't think it makes any difference what type of car or it's a very small risk element. I would not even factor in the type of car at all for me personally (if I thought of cars as only transportation and it didn't matter at all what type I drive then I might factor it in). If it was professional thieves targeting high end cars they are probably going to steal it when u aren't around.

From what I've seen the crims go from car to car based on what is convenient (ie they are lazy). Can they find an easy target for where they are at the moment is the biggest factor imo.

Skip to 2:25 in this video to see the one thing that is common to nearly all instances in the crazy-high carjacking rate in Chicago.

If you skipped the first part of this video, you missed a clip that is equal to or better than the best satire from the best days of Saturday Night Live. The handoff from the anchor to the reporter is a hoot!!!!!!

I normally carry 4 o'clock, so once the seatbelt is in place, there no easy draw, so I have been thinking about getting one, maybe in the center console or under dash. For those who put there pistol in an in-car holder, do that after you are in/locked/started? Can that be done easily?
Have you considered a shoulder holster? They are perfect for driving because you can still draw easily with a seat belt on.

What gets me is so many of these car jackings are because the perp needed a ride to the other side of town and was too lazy to walk. Stealing your valuables that may be in the vehicle is just a bonus for them. I have a feeling that many of them don't even think what they are doing is a big deal. Just a ride man.

And being that crime is t punished any longer, there's next to zero risk. I predict it'll only get worse until the public arms themselves and starts capping these carjackers

I don't drive that much.

And shoulder holster present other challenges.

I am also a motorcyclist, so looking at left hand access to a chest rig ..
- need right hand for go and stop.

A shoulder rig might work for tha.

worth considering

I may have read over it and I apologize if I missed it. Have you ever attempted appendix carry? What handgun do you carry? I know appendix works for some and not others. Just a thought.

If u want to check into 5.11 tactical select carry pistol pouch I have 2 new ones I'll never use and u can have one if u want it. As I recall u can wear it over your shoulder or as a Fanny pack. My full size Jericho fits in it. I would research it though to see it it is what u want. It's just the pouch, not the bag and pouch combo (I use the bags).

In Louisiana IIRC, they passed a law making it automatically legal to do so, even if the jacker is unarmed. Jacking went down immediately afterwards.

My daily carry is a S&W Shield, but I have not found appendix comfortable.

I'll check those out on line and PM you later. Thank you.

Don't jack*** in a car... they have laws against it. Prolly the only law they DO enforce.
Hummmmmm.......
BUT, But, but.......
Since you can drop trowl and C#@p right there on the sidewalk in San Francisco (and other liberal enclaves)? Shouldn't that "human function" also be allowed by the Liberals running the place?

I guess. They even have TV screens in the cars now... so some porn while you are waiting for your kid to get out of school???

Might be better off crapping in the car.

That's soooo........

PROGRESSIVE.

BUT, But, but......
IF......
The "housing challenged" (aka: homeless) can't even afford a car?

Hummmmm........Govt provided cars?
The housing challenged (aka: homeless) could then find jobs, go to their new jobs, make money, later buy homes, etc..... etc....... We're on a ROLL!!!!!!

OK, Ok, ok......you've convinced me. NOT.
So anyway.....the next Govt Program should be to provide FREE cars (EVs of course) to the housing challenged (aka: homeless). Yeah.....and, FREE gas and insurance too.
NOPE.....no gas used/required in an EV.
Rrrrrright......but those with/still in the "old cars" still need FREE GAS!!!
So then.....We will need to have a FREE exchange/up-grade program.

They would consider a free EV car to be a huge housing upgrade. Plus, some judge would demand that they have free charging stations where they live...

And VIOLA,,, free electricity for microwave dinners, TV, etc. Life is GOOD!!!

What city is it that bought a bunch of high rise apts for the homeless... yah, that should work out well... they've learned nothing from Cabrini Green... think they can hide it off the street... not gonna happen!!!

I really appreciate these preparedness threads on NWFA because of how they challenge me to rethink my situational awareness in urban settings.

Before, my strategy when visiting Portland was to keep my doors locked and stay in condition yellow, but now it's: 1) drive a greased-up minivan or squatted truck 2) expel any available bodily fluids at a moment's notice 3) whip out my tennis racket gun and start mag dumping 4) release the possum
