Many guys have to ask their wives permission to buy a gun.
I have heard a number of excuses from married men that their wives won't let them buy a new gun or they have to ask the wives before they can buy and she would say, No! Is it because you have too many already? Or she rather you spent the money on her instead? Or she don't want to deal with all the gun stuff after you die? Or you spending all your time playing with your guns and not with her? Or she know that you are financially irresponsible and spending hard earned money on guns and not saving your money? Or she's concerned about gun safety with chidren in the house? And What else?

I never ask, and my wife never cares, but since you opened this can of worms...

Depends on if your finances are combined or not. If they are, and if the wife is the bookkeeper, then you should probably verify that the disposable funds are available. If the finances are combined, and you are the money handler, and the finances are available, a courtesy "heads up" would be in order IMO, rather than asking permission.

If you keep your finances separate, and you still need to ask, grow a pair.

For used stuff: Possibly a negotiating tactic, never let the other party think you have the final say.
For new or used, feeling it's better to back off looking like a wimp rather than admit you're wasting the seller's/sales clerk's time (only tire kicking)?

The wife has her purses, her shoes, her coats and her exercise gear, not to mention club membership…. She has her hair salon appointments every six weeks, as well as nails and whatnot, she drives the newer/better of the two vehicles…. So she wants for nothing.

I frugally shop for my clothing, shoes, outerwear and inner wear. As fashion isn't my thing, it's usually jeans and some sort of button down. Where I do spend is firearms related. So I figure all totaled up, she still gets the lions share of the maintenance expenditures…. But I have tangible valuables I can always liquidate…

Wife is usually with me when a new firearm is added to the herd, and sometimes, she sees one she wants or needs, so it's all good! I never ask IF i can buy a new gun, I ask her if she wants to come with me!

And lets not talk about her obsession with fancy shoes, clothing, coats, purses, Nails, makeup, and all that, what ever she wants, she gets, it's her money, she earned it, and she can spend it however she wants, and she never has to ask permission from me or anyone else!

Wife did not like guns, they were not allowed to own guns in the former communist society she was raised in so she did not want me to have them. To her it was not "normal".

And now... suffice to say; no more wife...

(Yes there were more reasons than just that, she could never let go of being a communist and I couldn't tolerate that). It's just here they call it Marxist/leftist but in the end it all boils down to communism/Socialism and utter subjugation. One would think after fleeing those types of systems that they would embrace the freedoms that we have here, unfortunately a lot of people who immigrate cling to what they learned when they were younger and can never let go and that's one of the reasons why we see our country changing the way it is. So many people who can't let go of their past lives and as such imposing their viewpoints and beliefs on our country and irreparably damaging it in the process .

I so can relate. Don't turn this country into what you escaped.

Agreed. Pretend you have to check with "the boss" when negotiating a deal. Car salesman do it. "I really want to get this deal going, but 'The Boss' really thinks this isn't worth it... Unless you drop another 10%."

You never really check with "The Boss"... You just walked away, looked on your phone then came back.
