I've been working long hours, so haven't got out much lately. Just wrapped up a shooting session on the home range and took a snap shot from the bed of the utility vehicle:

I tell ya, the more I shoot that Model 29, the more it is becoming my all time favorite handgun. It fits my hands just right, very nice trigger pull, and accurate. And I can load anything from light Special loads to crazy big boomer Magnums, and all points in between. :D

My James River Armory M14. Most of the parts were made by Bula Defense. Magazine was empty for this photo shoot. Has a M1907 two piece leather sling which I had to buy. The stock and handguard are walnut.

Had one just like that. Beautiful guns and ran perfectly with surplus ammo

I had issues so I had to send my M14 back to Bula Defense, They fixed it and I was able to fire 80 rounds with it, Since it has a walnut hand guard I had to shoot over time to keep the barrel from getting super hot. But for my first try I fired a 20 round magazine dump.

My M92PV project.
Was going to go all OD but just wanted to finish it.

It took 353 days ... but I finally brought it home, Cobray M11/9mm SMG with LAGE slow-fire upper.
I think the "slow-fire" only slows it down to around 5-600 rounds per minute

Nothing like a 1970's bullet hose to put a hole in your wallet!

As I promised over on the other thread - here is a 1934/5-made Walther DSM, bubba'ed severely some time around 1954. How do I know that? Well, it somehow arrove in yUK and, as most of you know, any foreign-made gun intended for sale here has to be subjected to compulsory explosive testing, called 'proofing' before it can legally be sold. There are two proof houses in yUK - one in London and the other in Birmingham. At some time in 1955, the use of the 'NOT ENGLISH MAKE' stamp ceased - this gun is clearly stamped up as such, thus offering a proof date of 1954/5. I'm not going to enter into much of discussion why this little rifle should have been bubba'ed, but it was, so there ya go.

The bluing job is one of the best I've every seen, whch makes up for it a bit.

As I noted on the other thread, I use it to teach noobs the rudiments of shooting a rifle - ideal as it has a v. fine set of open sights.

...and this one is a 1930 Walther Sport Model 2 in .22LR. Unusually, it has a dual mode - you can use it as a single-shot or five-shot repeater using the bolt as a, uh, bolt, or you can leave the bolt 'up' and it functions as a VERY rapid-firing semi-auto. After WW2, with Europe in a real mess and patent law one of the lower priorities, Beretta made a very similar little rifle, and upped the ante by making the magazine capacity ten rounds, instead of the walther's rather meagre five. With a litle bit of fettling, the Beretta magazine can be made to fit, but they are rare in the extreme. Not, however, as rare as the original Walther mags, that I've seen on ebay for upwards of $100.

Over the years this one has lost its foresight and backsight, and been fitted with a set of pre-war Parker-Hale mounts and rings, as well as a rare pre-war Walther-brand x2.5 scope. Sometime before it came into my hands it was screw-cut for a mod, but I don;t bother, as here in UK a moderator on a firearm is counted as a firearm all by itself.

It's a RPITA to give a throrough clean, as you have to remove the scope to get the breechblock out of the receiver, so I try and keep it as clean as I can while I'm shooting it.

BTW, is anybody here interested in older scope?

I have a small collectment of older scopes...

I have a 4X on a Mossberg bolt action .22 that was my dad's...probably early 50's.
I completely understand about having to work around a scope when cleaning a rifle...and mine doesn't have those big knobs for removing the scope.
The best one is the one on Dad's 725. It holds a Bushnell 3-9X that's probably as old as that rifle.
That scope mount has a hinge on one side and you can unsnap the scope rings and flip it off to one side. Great if you choose to use iron sights for the shot and it makes cleaning a real breeze.
Not sure if they're still being made, but that was a dam good idea.
