My guess is and only because I admit I am cynical, there is going to be a huge increase in gun violence. I say that because Trump made a big promise to protect the second Amendment and to destroy his base support the other side will try everything to make him a liar. All the rules and regs like 21 really won't stop anything but it's all politial now. Look at how we started with Vegas and now school shootings, what's next?

I agree. No change should be made to the Second Amendment. And yes an issue like a revolution would be costly as all get out. But I don't believe an armed militia would stand against drones, APCs, and Abrams tanks. That was my only point in all of this.
As I said, that question would be irrelevant. The point is that nobody would "win".

It popped in my mind. Yes, my mind is _________ (You fill in the blank. Love me or hate me). So then, don't get me wrong. I'm NOT saying that you've said anything to attack or insult me. And so, this post isn't meant to be a personal affront/challenge to anyone.

So, it popped in my mind.....that perhaps a wonderful way to more easily explain to my young friend (or that person) about my support for the ownership of semi-auto firearms and hi-cap magazines is to show them that I am a "reasonable" person and that I have as much "common sense" as they have.

Who is that person....you know, the one who says.....

"No one, needs an assault weapon and/or hi-cap magazine."

and he (they) like to point out that.....

"Back when the Constitution was written. There were no assault weapons."

So, without pointing out the obvious misuse and/or negative vibe of the word, "Assault Weapon(s)." And, I'm not even saying that driving is a RIGHT. But, just to move it along.....perhaps, I should counter his (that person's) logic with.....

Yes, people who have their lives cut short is a tragedy. Yes, we should/could all support SAVING LIVES. So.....because, more people (including kids) die from car accidents than from gun violence. And, because vehicular speeding is one of THE major common factors in those deaths. Then, we should have a new law that says.....

"All vehicles on the public roadways shall be limited to 25 MPH. Vehicles that can travel faster than 25 MPH shall be surrendered for destruction or modified so as to adhere to the new 25 MPH speed limit. Public transportation vehicles, emergency vehicles, Govt owned and operated vehicles are exempt."

Hummm......think about it. No one in the public sector really needs to travel faster than 25 MPH. We just need to plan our schedules better. Sure, it'll take longer to get from point A to point B. But, you'll still get to your destination. And think about how many lives would be saved by lowering the speed limit. Note that, I'm not even suggesting that we should limit a vehicle's speed to that of when the Constitution was written (a wagon in regular travel went way slower).

SAVING LIVES, isn't that THE IMPORTANT THING?

Hey, I'm putting forth a reasonable solution to these senseless hi-way deaths. And, it's just common sense in order to save innocent lives. THEN, if you don't agree with me.....it's because you aren't reasonable and/or you don't have common sense. Maybe, you just don't care.

OK, Ok, ok.....maybe, dropping the speed limit to 25 MPH overnight is too extreme. So, let's compromise. Maybe a speed limit of 55 MPH? BTW, we could always go back and lower it again, later on.;)

Which group of angry people? Everything ive read says ISIS has been almost annihilated in Iraq.

Yes....I'd say that it's thanks to a change in policy (read as: President). So, without the change. Well, I doubt that ISIS would be on the run today.

But, maybe the blame for ISIS lays elsewhere? Should we examine the US policy throughout the years? Maybe, limit it to POST WW2? Oh no! Maybe then, back to the Crusader days? Nope. Maybe it started with that guy. You know, the one that Christians call, "Jesus."

BTW, you can bet your sweet bippy that NOT ALL of the ISIS fighters are over the age of even 18.

After thinking long and hard about this and came to the conclusion that the only way I'll be for this restriction, is that if they moved the requirement for everything from 18 to 21, such as:

  • Vote
  • Get an abortion
  • Get a tattoo
  • Get body piercings
  • Federal age of consent
  • Watch porn
  • Buy Fireworks
  • Get Married without permission
  • Pawn stuff
  • Buy Cigarettes

I would agree to it not because I believe in it, but because I would love to see the meltdown of those calling for the gun buying restriction once they realized they'll lose a lot of their "privileges"* along with what they are proposing.

*The use of privilege is in response to those who are calling for this change that also call the 2nd Amendment a privilege.

I spent 20 months 16 days in Vietnam, came home and was not old enough to buy a beer legally, now if 21 is the legal age to buy a firearm...
SMH...

I know many well over this legal limit that has absolutely no business around guns/firearms/weapons...

Yes. THEY (the youth of America) have already more or less accepted the idea (taught by Liberals).....that the 2nd A is a PRIVILEGE and not a RIGHT. It's a large part of the Liberal agenda.

Once people (even some gun owners/fudds) start agreeing.....they get sucked into their game of, "I have these other reasonable and common sense gun control ideas." Hey, if you don't agree with them, it's because you aren't reasonable and don't have common sense.

"La, la, la, la, la......not listening to you. You're irrelevant. Talk to the hand."

Just thinking out loud and not saying it's true but it seems if the limit to self defence is to be an adult at 21 then there are a number of other rights they dont' qualify for. However if you are not a citizen with full rights until 21 there is no way they should be drafted before 21. If you have no right for self protection then there is no way you should be required to carry a gun to protect those who took your rights to have a gun.o_O

You know why we are even having this debate about 21 vs 18 for gun rights?

Do_it_for_the_kids.jpg

Answer: It's another push by the Liberals to get people thinking like them. Emotions over facts. Feel good solutions over what could really work. Destroying the Constitution in the process.

Fact: More Americans (including kids) die from, "traffic accidents vs guns." And, the common factor with those accidents.....is speed.

But, I don't see lowering the speed limit as a priority for the Liberals. Then, car accidents are just that. MURDER on the other hand, is already ILLEGAL. But, it doesn't really matter because.....CONTROL.....is what they're really after.

+++++

Maybe, it's also a part of their bigger plan to later raise the legal age for military service to 21? You got to applaud their cleverness.

Now lets all sing, Kum Ba Yah. Me (not really me in the pic) and Mr. Wiskers wanna sing.

When I was 12, I had a 22 bolt action rifle. I took a hunter safety class. That was OK.
When I was 19, I had a hand gun. I really should not have and I thank the good lord that I did not do some of the things I might have done. I was not a very nice 19 year old. :( While there are a lot of responsible 19 year old's, there are also many who are not responsible.

There are many 39 and 59 year olds not responsible either, but that doesnt' mean we should ban guns. Better to ban crazy people and stupid people and send 'em to the Soylent Green factory. Then the guns could live in peace and harmony with the rest of us.

Next it will be 25 and brown hair. Enforce the laws we have. The FBI, local police in Florida screwed up and are covering their asses. The liberals have been waiting their chances to practice their relentless charge to disarm the country. How about lowering the age to 16......Spad

Let's not give 16 year olds firearms. I'm not sure I'm comfortable with them having cars.

What is the age of adult?
Isaiah 7:16 for before the boy knows enough to reject the wrong and choose the right, the land of the two kings you dread will be laid waste. "before the boy knows enough to reject the wrong and choose the right," - what is that age?

We keep pushing ages up - to be a child is 27 in many case. So, how about no contracts, no voting, no guns, no smokes, no alcohol, no porn, no reading conservative material, no marriage, no sex, no abortions until you are 27?

Don't like 27, what number is right? That is the age of adult.

I like 18 + military service. 21 without.

i think there is some difference between an 18 yr old working under a military
environment vs non-military where you're relatively speaking, a range free gun
owner. As a military member, you're living, breathing, eating under strict
surroundings with rationed ammo and where your comrades are operating under
a similar code of conduct, ethos, and mindset.
