It's not going to still be running. Why wouldn't you risk the fact that the van might still be operable to move on to get you far enough to safety?

Orif you pull over, get killed outside the van…your dying thought would be "should have rammed the bubblegumming gate" lmao
These are WAY stronger than an older forest gate..just saying. . I'm off to bed. Have a good night everyone. Dream about the gate. Sweet dreamsStronger gate here but the forest gate may be strong enough to do the same to a car or van. it happens fast, so slow it to .25 speed.

You still haven't chosen airbags or seatbelts. These are WAY stronger than an older forest gate..just saying. . I'm off to bed. Have a good night everyone. Dream about the gate. Sweet dreams
That's the truth. He'll be off the side of a turn or pulled over with a broken suspension before he hits the gate.A forest service road is a terrible route to take to "safety" considering the narrowness, gravel/dirt, literally no guardrails or whatnot... a slope on either side. Sometimes ditches on the uphill side...
I think I would be utilizing bothYou still haven't chosen airbags or seatbelts.
Especially fun in a beater truck or an ATV.50 feels like 90 on a logging road. It's pretty awesome
Awesome. Now pick a gate and we'll start organizing this thing. Think about it: You get to pick the gate. It has to be a real gate like we are all picturing - not some cheapo garden gate.I think I would be utilizing both
Damn, I bet it still opens.
"But but but it's anchored to sturdy concrete blocks and high tensile steel pins"

Which, at 50 mph into a 5" schedule 40 pipe, it's going to transfer anyway. And designed to crumple and break before imparting the impact forces to the squishy human meatbag
I have to question whether you have actually ever seen some of these gates first hand. A good 20 ton dozer could probably demolish one, but not a road legal automobile. This man is on track. If you are running for your life, you won't have time to stop, get out the angle grinder , torch, turn vehicle around to ram it backwards, etc.
After a quick assessment with this particular gate, you send it, hit it at the weakest point, hope you don't die and shoot at everyone behind you. None are very good options.
