restoration
The Restoration of the Stuart monarchy in the kingdoms of England, Scotland and Ireland took place in 1660 when King Charles II returned from exile in Europe. The preceding period of the Protectorate and the civil wars came to be known as the Interregnum (1649–1660).
The term Restoration is also used to describe the period of several years after, in which a new political settlement was established. It is very often used to cover the whole reign of Charles II (1660–1685) and often the brief reign of his younger brother James II (1685–1688). In certain contexts it may be used to cover the whole period of the later Stuart monarchs as far as the death of Queen Anne and the accession of the Hanoverian George I in 1714. For example, Restoration comedy typically encompasses works written as late as 1710.
A few weeks ago, I acquired a German WW2 Mauser byf 43 K98k that had been sporterized. I'm guessing that it was converted sometime in the '60s or '70s based on the look of the sport stock.
Normally I don't give these sport conversions a second look because they are usually drilled and tapped...
Would anyone like to recommend a firearm restoration professional in the PNW? I have an older rifle that I would like to give new life to, rather than spend that money on a new one. This one is special to me, so I'm looking for someone who I can trust to do an excellent job. Thank you!
Just thought I'd share my little restoration project of a Colt Mustang Nitelite in case anyone is interested. I'll give some before pics and some in progress pics. Then, if all goes to plan, the final, after pics. And yes, I know that refinishing a rare gun may lower it's value...
selling this for son who was in middle of restoring it
its a Stevens 416L target style bolt action 22LR
has a 26"heavy bull barrel
5 rd clip

my son took the varnish off and was about to start taking the grey stain previous owner had on but has decided to sell it instead...
I have an older Hi-Standard 22lr magazine that has seen better days.
Would like to restore it to something that won't give me tetanus and functional in the gun.
Any ideas on how to start? Specifically removing the rust and possibly putting a coating on it so it doesn't rust again?
I have a Winchester 73 that would require a competent gunsmith to work over. Either a complete or partial restoration. A complete restoration would require relining a barrel, fixing some gouges in the metal, and a complete re-bluing. Doug Turnbull back east is the guru, but I would prefer...
In 98 my dad shot a moose. It's the only set of antlers he ever took that was really worth mounting. They have been hanging under the eaves of Mom and Dad's house since 99 and have been bleached out some. Moose antlers don't fit well in most homes and I've decided to hang them in my shop. Before...
So my uncle's house was completely burned to the ground in the Santiam Fire, and he had all of my late grandfather's guns. Every single one had the stocks completely burned off, scope glass melted, and none of them will ever work again. However, he had 2 Winchester Model 94's and 2 Winchester...
Here are a few picks of a recent restoration of a 1915 Stevens Favorite .22 single shot that I recently completed. The stock was in reasonable condition but the receiver and barrel were filled with rust patches. The firing pin was broken and seized in the breech block and somehow (go figure) the...
