    What is the non gas related function of the gas key on a bcg in AR, can I remove a portion of it for use in a manual loading rifle?

    Could I remove the part of the gas key that would normally slip over the gas tube (see photo) and retain the non gas related function of the gas key? I would be removing the portion of gas key covered by the green tape.
