k98
The Karabiner 98 kurz (German: [kaʁaˈbiːnɐ ˌʔaxtʔʊntˈnɔʏntsɪç ˈkʊɐ̯ts]; "carbine 98 short"), often abbreviated Karabiner 98k, Kar98k or K98k and also incorrectly sometimes referred to as a K98 (a K98 is a Polish carbine and copy of the Kar98a), is a bolt-action rifle chambered for the 7.92×57mm Mauser cartridge. It was adopted on 21 June 1935 as the standard service rifle by the German Wehrmacht. It was one of the final developments in the long line of Mauser military rifles.
Although supplemented by semi-automatic and fully automatic rifles during World War II, the Karabiner 98k remained the primary German service rifle until the end of the war in 1945. Millions were captured by the Soviets at the conclusion of World War II and were widely distributed as military aid. The Karabiner 98k therefore continues to appear in conflicts across the world as they are taken out of storage during times of strife.

This story and great photo popped up on the Stars and Stripes this morning. The photo shows a 75 year old (?) Mauser used by a Shiite Muslim sniper to kill 400 ISIS militants in Basra Iraq. The 65 year old fighter was killed in action earlier in the year. The rifle is being held by his son and...

Currently looking to buy a German K98.
Having trouble finding one that's in decent condition or crazy in price.
I've seen plenty of Yugo M48s and 24/47s.
If anyone has a K98 that's not sportorized message me and we can work something out. Thanks.
John.
1944 Sig Sauer made K98. Vet bring back with no import marks. Excellent bore and matching bolt, floor plate, receiver, and sights/base. Wood was sanding by vet and I still have stock that came with it. In process of restoration and stock on it is German but Yugo rework. Everything there but...

Selling a matching K98 made in 1938 with S/42 code. Here is the thing, it is in mint condition but looks like there were force matched numbers. The stock is laminate with ZERO dents made of superior quality and in solid mint condition, looks reproduction. Not sure what the story is on this...
To fund another gun project I have for sale a Russian capture German K98 made by Sauer with all the original markings. Not sure what's matching and what's force matched by the Russians. The price is fair at $425, it will include the reproduction sling and cleaning rod. See photos for markings...

I recently acquired a K98, 1944, rifle. It was mismatched parts but looked to be in good condition. I cleaned the rifle and was able to take it to the range yesterday. Things did not go great, and I'm hoping some of you might have some ideas on how to proceed.
1. loading 5 rounds in the mag led...

Hey all,
Due to financial constraints I'm forced to sell off my Mitchell K98 (yes I know it's not all that desirable as a collector item, but it is a fun rifle to shoot). Purchased it new about 8 years ago. Asking 400, and buyer pays FFL Fees.
