Why do some people say they will bury their firearms?

Why would anyone want to bury them? So a tyrannical government doesn't take them away?? Doesn't the 2nd Amendment itself beg the question, 'if you think it's time to bury your weapons, it is in fact time to dig them up'?

And if you were one to think burying them is a good idea, what would it take to dig them up?

I agree. Burying a weapon is akin to letting someone else step up and fight and I'll watch to see how it turns out.

The only time Id bury a firearm (and I have) is because Im making a cache with food water first aid etc..

But you are very right, if its time to bury your arms.. Its truly time to start loading them.

Now seriously, if I were to bury weaponry, I'd do it to store a bulk cache of supplies until an opportune moment presented itself. I won't throw my life away without some guarantee of success.

So if others are dying in raids, being made out in the media as militia survivalist / anti-government extremists because they refuse to give up their recently made illegal firearms, you will continue to keep yours buried until enough of those souls have shed their blood to turn the tide of the battle and then you'll dig them up and join in the parade at the end with life and skin intact?

I'm not on their side and have no intention of joining them per se. I'd dig them up if there was a chance of supporting and arming like-minded people to prevent us from getting caught in the crossfire, or on the off chance we actually had an armed socialist movement, I'd consider digging them up to support that.

But just some guy who hates big government and wants the FDA gone so we can pay 25 cents less for sausage made from mangled orphan limbs...

What you describe is exactly how it will go down. House to house, executions in the street, homes burned to the ground, living occupants arrested, firearms confiscated. People will willingly hand over their guns to protect their lives. Neighbors will Narc on their neighbors, wives will Narc on their husbands to save themselves, kids at school will be coerced into revealing whether the household has illegal weapons. You bury them off property or in a hide of some sort and deal with how you explain where they went.

Without organization, most will be screwed.

I buried them not because I afraid of the GOV will come take them but because I have too many and I want to split them out :)

And it buried under the 14th old growth protected tree from the right in the cascade range :)
Might as well make those tree huggers work pay off.

Honest question here, did you like to touch hot stoves as a child? That just seems like poking a bear because you happen to have a stick.

Not many people want to be the first one to start the fight.

Just an addition to my, they were hi points.

I did it because one will never know what theyll run into.. Or even what the outcome of the burial will reveal.. Rust, seepage.. Perhaps dug up by someone else?
(very very doubtful in my case)

I will dig mine up due to relocation or when I get curious.. But most certainly NOT for a socialist movement.. Ive already got my rifles loaded and waiting to put that movement down upon its first steps.

    And I ain't a fan of .45¢ orphan sausage.
But I do eat progressive socialist liberal souls for breakfast and wash'em down with their tears while I read the paper that talks about their failures.. And when I need to take my morning glory.. I wipe with their manifesto.

Certain LEO's won't go along and they'll lead the way BEFORE we need to bury them.

Well at the very least we can bond over our mutual love of non-orphan sausage.
