New England Firearms "Survivor" .410 shotgun bore / .45 Colt. Single shot. The barrel is rifled, there is a screw-in choke for patterning the shot when .410 shell is fired. Storage compartment in the butt stock, also a small storage space under the forend. NEF started making these in the mid-1990's, under Marlin they were continued from 2000-2007, and under Remington up to discontinuation of the brand in 2011. The Survivor was made in .357 Magnum, .223 Rem., .308 Win. , 20 and 12 gauges, plus the .410 / .45 Colt. They weren't offered in all these chamberings every year. The .410 / .45 Colt was the only one being made by 2011. They were made in blue and some in nickel finish. The one shown in the picture was made in 2003. NEF and H&R 1871 Inc. and LLC use an simple letter code in the serial number reflecting date of manufacture.

I think the .410 / .45 Colt idea was taken from Thompson/Center Contender. In fact, the choke tube and wrench are T/C parts, and the wrench is so marked.

A pound of IMR3031 that I have no conceivable use for.

I got home and perused the Loadbooks
of everything I shoot and find any use for except last ditch stuff. I'd happily trade it for IMR4064 or RL-22...

GREAT resource!

Christmas in March for me
What is it?
it was more of a quest to buy another dan wesson. Started out with the specialist, then decided to buy the Bruin. But before i could hit the confirm button on my cart i thought, 'what the hell. In for a dime, in for a dollar' and now i wait for it to ship.. In .45 though.
I think it's perfect because it is .45.
I am not sure I have ever bought a gun or knife on an impulse buy, I usually have to have put some thought into it first and know I really want it.

I have been very tempted a couple time when I see a screaming (ie reasonable) price for something I might want.

The last real impulse though was when I was still working steadily and had saved all of my allowance.

I went into guitar center to buy a guitar they had on clearance with a 0% for 24 months deal.

I walked into the place and looked down a very large wall of electric guitars to have my eye hit one in particular within half a second.

I finally found the one I had gone in for and the rep showed me how to pull them off the wall then walked away.

I wasn't exactly impressed with it once it was in my hands but it would have sufficed.

I went from guitar to guitar taking them down and dinking with them only to end up telling myself I may as well take that one that caught my eye down so I could at least say I looked…. Bad idea.

I went up to the counter, to the guy that had helped me and he says, "so which one did you like?". I replied knowing my wife would not be impressed, "The expensive one…". Guy replies, "of course you do".

Ended up buying a guitar 3 times the cost of the one I went in for and have not regretted it one single time.

Buy once, cry once applies here as it will be hard to justify another in that realm for someone who honestly isn't that good at playing the thing lol.

Pics do not do it justice, black base with metallic green over the top and then pealed off and clear coated so no 2 are the same.

Just how it feels when holding a high quality tool, or in this case an instrument is part of what you're paying for. When you pick it up and it feels perfectly natural, it's almost a comforting feeling. That's when you'll usually do your best work.

Nice thing about having a young kid. You can buy cool toys like that to play with and tell everyone its for the kid. :s0140:
It's even better with the grand kids.
