I ask, because I've done the same thing with the pig in Miami. Always funny to watch some bubblegumhead teenagers change their tune, and then lighten up when you let them know they've been had.

E-tool, everyones gotta go!
Hand held FM triband like kenwood or Yaesu.. and learn how to use it now!
Water purification filter system.
Solid knife - like Kbar
LED Headlamp with lots of extra batteries. Smith & wesson makes a very good 80 lumen No frills headlite that is cheap & works great.
A USMC combat tent
Silva compass $10.00 or military compass $50 +/- and learn how to use it... Note those cheap compasses in the end of knives are usually useless as the metal in the shank throws off the magnetics. Get away from metal like vehicles, powerlines, and other electro or magnetic (metal) source if you want a true reading. One should always have an idea of where north is by a landmark, mountain, position of sun, or rising and setting of sun, flow of a creek, etc.. before you pull the compass so you can check it.
Toilet paper, toothbrush, sew kit, Pain killers, antiseptic, meds... good stainless tweesers, Tampons & pads, Sterile Tape, Antibiotics, IMODIUM, Tang, and here is one that you can put in your FOOD kit that is so good for light weight, taste & usefull Packs of Dry Nori. You can make a meal & break one sheet up in a pot like you would fresh green onions.. and when you have a little extra rice you can roll a sheet, and take it for lunch... you can carry a hundred of these sheets in their resealable bags with desacant pac included for the weight of about 4 slices of bread. Teh bread will go off in a few days where these things can last for months... and as long as we're at the asian store pick up some, plastic chopsticks, and a plastic rolling matt. These are light weight, easy to clean. and work great. Also SAKI, antiseptic, rice flavorant, relaxant... many things.
ALWAYS EXTRA SOCKS.. Heavy boot socks, even in summer. Always take care of your feet! You can't move without them! Socks are great for dumping rounds into. A doubled up pair of winter socks makes a silent tube for several hundred rounds.. just tie a knot in the top.. and when they're empty they can still be washed and worn.

A word for those who haven't had much time climbing & pushing through the hard stuff. Get Insulated boots, even in the summer. When your foot accidentally hits a stick that's laying like a spear, or you hit a rock ledge against the top of your instep. or you have to climb or descend a steep hill and your TOP of your toes are rubbing against the top of your boots... you'll be GLAD for the thick socks & insulation, or you'll have busted up feet, and probably no doctor, or antibiotics. Ask a roofer who works on steep inclines all day, or a combatant soldier fresh from a long hump, they can explain it. Danner Boots has an outlet on columbia way in N portland there you can purchase over runs made under contract for different brand names, like caterpillar, "... setter", cabela's etc... or their own name brand at reduced prices. The service is great... and they know boots. A good one for traction & support (roofers scarf them up) is the Danner "Canadian boot with a "Bob" sole. The sole sticks like velcro, the boot supports your ankle, is VERY comfortable, has a sealed tongue, is waterproof, and has about 600+ grams of thinsulate. I had a pair and used them for winter hunting and crossed creeks in the snow and freezing water with nice toasty warm feet. They'll also rebuild the boots they sell for a reasonable price!
Got a little long, Sorry!
Good prepping.
A1;)
