Looking at map that is a barren wasteland between those small towns. Having driven barren wastelands without the benefit of sirens or any kind of escort, I think it is very doable personally. I could comment on how I know this but some people get offended if you drive over the speed limit even if it's deserted roads so I won't comment on it (plus it will send me on the rabbit hole of talking about fast cars from the past he he).
And what about once entering the city limits? No corners to negotiate? No civilian traffic getting confused and blocking the path? I still don't buy it.

When one considers having to slow down for these interferences, the agents would have to be running 130+ mph for very long stretches of roadway.

The BORTAC agent went into the school to save his own family.

Reminds me of the great LA bank robbery shoot out. Where an LEO had to run to a gun shop to ask for help with guns they did not at that time keep in the vehicles.

As an engineer, whenever I see articles like this containing numbers, I always run the calcs as sort of a "sniff test" to see if the reporting is credible.
I don't know what the highway/roads look like from Del Rio to Uvalde, but I'm pretty sure no CBP agents drove a sustained 113.5 mph for 37 minutes.
Barren wasteland. Should be no issues at all driving that fast.

In the past two years, the Uvalde school district has hosted at least two active-shooter training days. One of them was just two months ago.

The trainings included both classroom teachings and role-playing scenarios inside school hallways

TWO CENTS:

A third of my career was with an international company, that third was spent as a member of the corporate safety committee. My duty was to preach & teach safety in the US of A. Accidents, mishaps, injuries, & deaths occur because of a series of events. If anyone had taken the time to stop or prevent just one of the safety violations, that event would not have occurred.

A teacher blocked the door open and six minutes later the shooter walked into the school. Too late.........................

With sadness,

As I understand it that teacher saw the shooter crash and saw him with gun outside the school and shooting at the two poeple from funeral home (if the reports are accurate). Why didn't she shut the door? I don't get it.

The guy isn't a coward, but he had his motovation.

Not on the same level as the three bortac agents that stormed the classroom and put the shooter down.

Re: All the 'something don't add up' and 'lies from the beginning' comments, I would offer up Hanlon's Razor

"N
ever attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity."
Re the something don't add up 115mph one, I can guarantee you that is easily doable. Old tires or low speed rated tires would make it a gamble for the driver but barring that there is no reason why that should even be questionable Imo, especially on a relatively straight ina barren area like that.

Wasn't too long ago (maybe 8 years) a company in west Richland Wa set the world record for street car on west Richland country road. Can't remember the number I want to say 247 or 257mph? That was on a stretch with one gentle curve.

Edit: quick google search shows they must have re-run it cuz the one I remember was 5-8? years ago or so. Anyway looks like they set it again in 2021. I didn't bother to read if they used the same stretch of road or not. (Owner has no relation to Carroll Shelby btw).

I wonder, did the training tell them stand outside for an hour and wait to see if the situation would just magically solve itself? 🤬

Maybe they were waiting for him to run out of ammo or kill himself? (J/k)

Seriously though this has me thinking of several shootings here recently (I think the last one was yesterday or the day before) where the cops get into a long negotiation session with the shooter. The headline reads something like "shooter was unhurt" as if this is the ultimate goal.

One has to wonder what their standard protocols are and how much the "commander" had the power to do (or prevent the police from doing in this case).

The "commander" was just elected to the city council days before so he knows he is on the police job for just a very short time. Did this play onto his weakness and cowardice I wonder?

"...raced to the school from nearly 70 miles away..."

Allowing for the maximum amount of time in the calculation, from "...at 11:33..." to "...at 12:10..." that's 37 minutes... Hmmm...

70 miles in 37 minutes pencils out to in excess of 113 mph average speed, which would have to be sustained (for the entire 37 minutes). Sump'n ain't addin' up...
One time when I was being less wise, coming back from East Wenatchee back to West Seattle I made the trip in under 2 hours.

If I had had wings on my car it would have come off the ground.

Their numbers might be exaggerated, but it is very possible, not to mention these southwest towns have really long, flat stretches of desolate roads between them.

Did the training stop at the hallway? Cause that's as far as they made it….

Now THAT would make me wonder too. If he was frozen with fear to make a decision since the "wrong one" would end his new political career before it even got off the ground?

This thread has members thoroughly confused. Back the blue, or not?

Blind obedience works best for blind people.
I back the blue. I also understand that every profession has it's ten percent, at both ends of the curve. These bubblegums are definitely at the wrong end of the curve...
