Go with the golden rod! I have and I do not have to lube/preserve stuff I put in my safe. Many things such as M-14 mags have been bone dry and not rusted.
On the size note.... As a young man 15 years ago with four long arms I thought an 18 gun safe would last me forever. Surprise! It is not enough.
Also, scopes and pistol grips can cut down on available space.
