Once all businesses are burned out and businessmen move far away, where does the burn, loot and murder mob go for groceries, clothing, this/that and the other?

I don't think they have the stupidity to take on rural Americans.

The St. Louis couple only pointed their guns, others won't be so unwilling to actually defend themselves from the burning, looting, murdering mob...so, once there's no resources to plunder, they'll die on the vine...

Or with a slug or two in 'em...

Seriously, I suspect they're not ready for the reception they'll receive outside of Portland city limits...

most are willing to give them a little rat-tat-tat-tat-tat to keep them away...

If I were a Seattle cop and not close enough to retirement to get out early, I'd be sending resumes out to every small town PD in the country to get out of there and not into another similar predicament. Seattle PD is hamstringed by the politicians. They have very little authority.

The mayor. Denny Jerkin and the council have exhibited their own personal biases without any common sense or adherence to common sense, the Constitution or the good of all the people who pay their salaries via taxes. Portland is the same. Both cities are increasingly full of refugees of escapees from CA, who bring that way of life north.

See above, you said: "The Right/police checks 14 boxes".

To conflate Police leadership with rank & file is a futile argument.

You're putting words in my mouth, I never mentioned police leadership specifically, just police as a whole. when I type "The Right/police checks 14 boxes" I mean folks on the right side of the political spectrum as well as police, who are generally on the right side of the spectrum.

Outside of Portland's commissioner, who has no power or influence over the police, it's easy to conflate leadership with rank and file, as well as the union. They all cover for each other, and check all those boxes, and all contribute to why folks are protesting. You can also conflate a lot of DAs into that right/police group.

If there are no police to call obviously crime will sky rocket, nobody to police criminals is nobody to police citizens so i guess that leaves citizens to do it them selves with SSS, what other option is there than to just be a victim?

I thought we were mostly done with the rioting and looting. I thought he disaster that was CHAZ/CHOP would have changed how the SPD responds or does not respond to things. Turns out I was wrong. What scares me isn't the mob of lunatics smashing and burning stuff it the fact that the police just sit back and watch. At this point the leadership in Seattle is encouraging this by just letting it happen. Businesses attacked, police precincts attacked, 12 or so officers injured and they make 2 arrest. Why does Seattle even have police?

Look at this persons body language... She is defeated. She looks broken. Why did they chose her as a spokesperson? Was it to make it clear that the SPD has no teeth and is broken? She had to mention twice that they were mostly peaceful demonstrators. She also had to make it clear they did not use teargas. Why? explosives were used, folks were hurt ,private and public property was damaged. This is not a peaceful demonstration. She literally said they "monitored" the rioters. Maybe stop them....? Does she believe that sitting back and letting folks riot is OK? I

I'm at a loss. I'm feeling like disbanding the SPD might be the answer. Not because ACAB but because their leadership is weak and incapable or uninterested in defending the rights of law abiding citizens. I'm not anti cop but, at some point why have a police department if all they are interested in is issuing parking tickets and investigating potentially racist tweets while mobs wreck bubblegum. They don't even seem interested in defending themselves....

I am trying to reply to this calmly...because I feel that we have lost our ability to discuss things in this country in a civil fashion. It is not the cops fault! It is the politicians fault. The cops, from the Chief down, follow orders. They have all the training, ability, and will power to do their job. However, the politicians, in both Seattle and Portland, have ordered them to do nothing. And at the same time, the politicians and media act as if the cops are the problem. SHAME ON YOU POLITICIANS, AND MEDIA. We should all be ashamed of ourselves for not standing up to support the cops and for allowing our politicians to behave as they are. Cops are not the problem. The problem is the media is spinning everything and naive people buy into it. Then, the politicians buy into what the media is saying because they believe that their voting base agrees with it. Additionally, freedom of speech has been eliminated in our country through cancel culture. So, for an individual to even stand up and say "I support the cops" is to, for some reason as if we are in a science fiction movie, risk being "cancelled" by their employer and held economically liable for their opinion and freedom of speech. I am sorry but this movement, while started with some good intentions, is not all good. Any movement or ideology that cannot be questioned is an oppressive movement. The greatest threat to our country, right now, is not covid or police brutality...it is the elimination of freedom of speech and idea. We all need to wake up.

Are you kidding me... what do you mean the commissioner has not power or influence over the police? They have exactly that. The police chief is an "at will employee" who can be fired at any time... hired by the commissioners. The politicians are running the show...not the police.

Maybe, just maybe, it's time for people to start taking responsibility for defending/protecting their own property and livelihoods instead of cowering in a corner sucking their thumbs and waiting for the police to jump in harm's way to do it for them?

If I had a pack of "protesters" actively attempting to damage my outbuildings or livestock they'd find a level of resistance that might just shock them into fleeing.

Just an old guys .02

I support the police up there.
To a point.....

But if they really do want to do what's right?
Then at some point they need to be strong and walk away.

Screw their pensions.
Screw what they have invested in years.

Send the right message.
You don't want us. So we won't be here for you.

So is the Portland police following the Commissioners orders to not use tear gas? Are the feds heeding the governors and mayors requests to go home? No, their laughing at them, and the constitution, and doing what they want.

As you said, 'The problem is the media is spinning everything and naive people buy into it' I couldn't agree more.

I am confused.... so your saying that humans are doing that job? And that in that process you find some humans that are bad humans, or reach their breaking point, or have a bad day? I don't support bad officers, and in that video the officer is abusing his authority and should be disciplined or fired. However, you choose to find the few bad examples that are broadcast on the news, rather than the millions and millions of examples of them doing great things. Risking their lives, and dying for complete strangers. It is my humble belief, that you have been indoctrinated into believing a lie, however I support your freedom of thought, and your freedom of speech.

A couple of points.... the order not to use tear gas is not all inclusive. It is to not use tear gas unless a riot is declared. They are not using tear gas on protesters, they are using tear gas on rioters. Their is a big difference. All you have to do is look at the destruction in seattle and portland to see why they are using tear gas. We have a constitutional right to protest. However, we do not have a constitutional right to destroy, disrupt people livelihoods, loot and steal, block freeways, etc.

As for the feds, they are stepping in to help stop the violence and destruction that is occurring. They don't have to listen to the mayor of the city. Gun violence is up 300% in the city of portland. Violent crime, robbery, theft also up. This is what happens when cops are not allowed to do their job. And, are not supported.

I support your freedom of speech, and thought. However, I would ask that you question your own beliefs from time to time, as we all should.

I don't believe they're all bad, but none of the good ones ever seem to try to out the bad ones. It literally takes years of investigations for police to admit their own wrong doing. In the rare occasion a good one does speak out, they are usually vilified and ostracised by their peers, and coerced into quitting.

'you choose to find the few bad examples that are broadcast on the news, rather than the millions and millions of examples of them doing great things.'

the exact same could be said about the current protests... and of course people do this, it serve to prove their point. Of course there are violent protesters, of course property has been damaged, and of course there are good cops. I'm not blind at all, and I can admit those things.

Can folks on this board admit that unidentified paramilitary police abducting folks into unmarked vans is slightly unconstitutional? No, they will blanket everybody as rioters, and call for the hounds, with an unquestionable belief.

"Can folks on this board admit that unidentified paramilitary police abducting folks into unmarked vans is slightly unconstitutional? No, they will blanket everybody as rioters, and call for the hounds. "

Again, with believing what the media tells you. "Abducting" "unidentified" "unmarked vans" , you make it sound like these people have been taken away never to be seen from again. The are actually, in "uniform" not unidentified, they are "arresting" not abducting, and they are identifying themselves as police officers. They are not targeting random people, they are arresting the people doing damage. Additionally, they are not arresting people at peaceful protests. They are arresting people during riots. Any one that finds themselves part of a riot or violent mob, should not be surprised when they are arrested. It is the media that is altering reality.

if police are enforcing a fascist state, then wouldn't it be a citizens duty to take up arms against them? The right/police checks all 14 boxes, the left/protestors, maybe 5.

View attachment 725042
Really? The right checks all 14 boxes, but the left only 5?
Disdain for human rights? How and where? Where are the gulags The mass graves? Is preventing someone from looting or burning other people's property now a human rights issue to you? What about the rights of the property owner?
The right controls the mass media? Really? You'sure about this?
Fraudulent elections? Where and when did these occur and who was responsible?
Disdain for intellectuals and the arts? What museums were closed, banned or burned? Which intellectuals are treated with disdain more-- Those on the left or those on the right?
Corporate power protected? Which of the burnt out banks do you think were protected? Which corporations have been protected from the extortion of BLM and the left? Goya?
Obsession with crime and punishment? As in break the law and take the consequences? As opposed to anarchy?
Exactly which religion is entwined with the government? Muslims? Zoroastrians?
Rampant cronyism and corruption? You think this is solely on the right?
Rampant sexism? Again you think this is solely on the right?

Kid, you need to start thinking for yourself instead of regurgitating socialist crap from the internet.

NEITHER side has a corner on any of the "symptoms" from your list. Your communist friends are just the other side of the fascism coin.

Pure GOLD man! I feel that cop. Granted, it should have been that PUNKS DAD that set him straight like that about 25 years earlier. Instead of the cop.

I've got a feeling it was totally appropriate! Not allowed anymore in this country that's been taken over by Karen's, snowflakes and the uber politically correct though.

I'm guessing not many under under 45 could appreciate the humor in that.
