Oregon Assault Weapons Ban Proposal

Heard a rumor, repeat just a rumor, from a friend in Salem that after a series of high level meetings with local, state, military, and law enforcement representatives today, Governor Brown is convinced she has enough support to push for an assault weapons ban and high capacity magazine ban in Oregon in the wake of the murder of the UCC students.

I hope this rumor is unfounded and wrong, but if there is any truth to this, this will require a massive fight from gun owners. Apparently Governor Brown believes she has enough support to enact the California model for gun control.

Democrats control the state, the media, the schools, and just about everything else in Oregon, so if true, this will be a doozy of a fight.

Pretty telling as to their motives given statistically what they refer to as "assault weapons" are a non issue. They simply are not used in virtually any gun crimes nor are very many people shot with the 11th round in the mag.

What these things could be used for are the reasons the founders included the 2nd in the BOR. They want their enemies neutered.

I hope every gun owner that actually voted for the people in Salem that are pursuing these laws are now fully aware of the consequences of their actions. I also hope those that didn't vote because they thought it didn't matter also see the results of their inaction.

Well, post SH, Connecticut passed a law requiring mandatory registration of "assault weapons". According to the latest available info, it appears a good 70% never have registered. Sure, some were all too eager to stick their tongues up the backsides of the political elite by being first inline to 'do their duty' - you know, like the brownshirts did with the Nazi's?

I suspect any attempt at registration will be met with even more failure to comply than is suspected under SB941. And who they hell would be in charge of pursuing it anyway? The sheriff's? Many will refuse. The state police? All 20 of them? I'm sure the traitorous city cops in some jurisdictions will be all to happy to confiscate. But there are a lot of owners out there that don't appreciate having things taken away.

We tried to play nice earlier this year. We wrote letters, they ignored us. We showed up to testify, they ignored us. We made phone calls, they ignored us. There is no reason to believe they won't do exactly the same thing again.

I'm afraid this time around, we'll have to stop being nice and friendly. They have proven they won't play fair. They don't care about our rights. They don't care about how we feel. It's time to turn their tactics against them. It's time to get rude, nasty and loud. If they're going to pass this, they need to be aware of exactly how many people they are pissing off, and just how pissed of they really are.

Playing nice earlier this year got us SB941. I think we've seen that trying to be nice and work with them simply will not work.

It's probably time to start writing and calling these rat bastards now. Tell them what you really think. Tell them that you will be there, in every district in Oregon in 2016, and you will remember who the traitors were. And you will be doing everything you can to end their political careers in the next election.

Really you have to ask yourself how ignorant a person can be to come up with the laws. I remember going to the state capital to testified against a proposed handgun ban. Bunch of us there and really pissed off so they didn't hold the meeting. However I did talk to the state police rep who was speaking for the ban.

I asked him if he realized the criminals are just going to saw off rifles and shotguns and the cops would be facing great power that would kill them quickly. Have no idea if that had any effect but ya'll should note we still have our handguns.

We stood up to the fight by going to Salem, the fights still on after all these years. I wonder if they realize when they ban the ARS that the criminals will use high powered hunting rifles that no vest will stop?

I worked with a guy who was a rabid SM Local-16 steward. He incited others to damage the property of co-workers who crossed the picket line. Many years later this guy was promoted thru the ranks in that same company and became a VP. Once there, he and management tried to bust the union, so the union members made it personal and picketed in front of his house out in Gresham. Several weeks later he could not take it anymore and was literally crying in the CEO's office asking him to make it stop.

With all that in mind, it surprises me no one did any of that to Phloyd and his ilk.
