One poll I saw showed the majority of people ok with either repealing the 2nd amendment or banning guns were over the age of 50. It's like, "Well, I'm getting too old to stand up and fight, I've enjoyed my lifetime of freedom already, I can't get out to shoot much anymore, so maybe no one needs those rights anymore..." got my blood up.

The corporate lawyers have spoken.

As they already have on guns and ammo.

I don't like violent games that don't have a redeeming feature... stuff like Grand Theft Auto and it's permeations (sp). The timing sucks tho. They should have done it long ago, now it will just lead to more stores dropping guns and ammo.

I wish games like GTA included things unwanted prison sex after you got caught and additional "lawyer fees" you had to pay from your money to get out. Make it just a bit more real.

I grew up poor, I came of age is the worst parts of town... I listened to death metal and gangster rap... I watched violent movies and played violent games... I dropped out in middle school... (I finished HS eventually though)

The day i turned 18 I started buying guns an have never looked back. Ive carried every day since I turned 21 and got my permit.

Never once have i attacked an innocent person in any way. Never once have I touched a gun in anger, nor have I threatened the use of a gun to threaten or scare anyone...

By the accounts of many, I should be a monster by now, public enemy #1...

Yet Im not, nor are millions of others who have similar stories.

Games dont make you violent anymore than being poor does... or anymore than having a gun does.

I get the need to deflect blame away from gun culture... but placing it on a different product isnt the answer.

WE... as a society have created this problem... The education system, the social conditioning that is forced upon us, especially boys... In total contradiction to nature... Have made younger generations weak willed and weak minded... Undiciplined personally and behaviorally...
The pervasiveness of pop culture, celebrity/star worship... The addictive nature of social media and the instant gratification culture of the internet...

These things are proven to be destructive of young minds... Then we dont allow young men to express their frustrations in traditional ways... The rage is suppressed. Its a pressure cooker needing to vent.
Of course the internet provides fodder for these people and allows a way to focus their rage at others....

Put this together into the mind of a person who is naturally unstable to begin with... And you have a perfect storm...

They lash out at perceived enemies and/or those they blame for their troubles.

Sometimes its suicide. Sometimes parents or family are killed. Sometimes its women or ethnic/religious/political groups... Classmates or former classmates... Sometimes just society in general.

Thats a lot of rambling there... Hopefully you see my point.

@shibbershabber I don't disagree with much of what you stated. I think we do have a cultural problem. But as a guy that is near 70, I've seen much of the cultural change. The part that I have a problem with is the "Culture of Death". IMO it is not one thing... it is a cross-sectional cheapening of the regard and value of life. Starts with murder of babies in the womb, extends to wanting the elderly to croak, gang violence, and the glorification of violence in entertainment, and then to people that wish all their enemies dead or those that just want to do as much damage in a copycat mass shooting. I wish I could lay the blame on that alone, but I can't... basically, humans suck and we are in the devolution period of our society. I don't think we can put the evil genie back.

The corporate lawyers have spoken.

The upside is that all of the commenters in that article thought the decision was stupid and I didn't see a single negative comment towards guns. Several said the same things we do here.

I say take your allies where you can get them. Whether you like video games or not, this group (if the commenters are representative) seems to be on our side.

@shibbershabber gets it.

For some reason there has been a systematic emasculation of men in our society since at least the 1980s. Example: how many TV shows and commercials portray the father or men in general as a moron or man-child? We are told women are equal in every way (unless we're talking divorce or child custody, then they retain their privileged status as if it were still the 1950s).

If you're white, you also get to be blamed for every racial problem in the country even if your socioeconomic status places you at the bottom of society (Appalachia anyone?). White privilege, like original sin, is an inherent feature of your existence.

America is also a very harsh and judgemental country. Read the comment section in any article about a tragedy or problem and there's a chorus of "that person's an idiot," or "they should go to jail," etc. Whenever anything goes wrong we immediately seek to place blame and punish.

Is it any wonder that, when saddled with these burdens in addition to all the challenges of everyday life, some people snap? Without a strong family, a good education, and meaningful work, the world is a pretty dark place.

Obama struggled for years with his own party to get universal background checks passed and he couldn't.

Now Trump is 60 days away from getting it done.

The threat just got real for a new Assault Weapon Ban.. Republicans are throwing gun owners under the bus... Again...

we need to look at his connections to China through his father in law.

In 2004, current Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and his wife, current US Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, had an average net worth of $3.1 million. Ten years later, that number had increased to somewhere between $9.2 million and $36.5 million.

One source of the windfall, according to a new book from Peter Schweizer, was a 2008 gift from Chao's father, James Chao, for somewhere between $5 million and $25 million. But this gift could be seen as more than just a gift. It may have been acquired, according to Schweizer, thanks to the couple's fealty to China, the source of the Chao family fortune. And that fealty may have occurred at the expense of the nation they had pledged to serve.

In the ensuing years, McConnell has loudly defended China in its actions against Hong Kong and Taiwan, even claiming that "the United States needed to be 'ambiguous' as to whether we would come to the defense of Taiwan if attacked by China." When Sen. Jesse Helms introduced the Taiwan Security Enhancement Act, pledging support for Taiwanese independence, in 1999, it had "twenty-one co-sponsors and heavy Republican support. But McConnell was not on the list."

When Congress required China to document annual progress on human rights in order to maintain its trade status in the aftermath of the Tiananmen Square massacre, ditching the requirement became a priority for the country. In 2000, "McConnell cosponsored S.2277, which would do just that."

McConnell also fought attempts to punish China for vigorously undervaluing its currency, a tactic that led Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to invoke the nuclear option, changing Senate rules on voting. The bill passed, 63-35, with McConnell voting against.

The over 50's should be the ones most vehemently defending the 2A. We've been around a while and heck, it aint gonna be pretty going forward, what have we got to lose??

Get ready bois, this might be the big one!!

He fell and broke his shoulder.

As far as the China and $$$ connection goes, I have mentioned that on here and the book that published it with backed up figures and facts. His money and connections and others in the D/R parties. I am shocked that people don't bring up all of those $$$ figures and sweet heart deals/connections on so many other candidates too.

Gee, the OVER 50 crowd that we are listening to are NOT happy about any more compromises when it comes to the RKBA issue.

The younger crowd from MY point of view, your mileage may vary, seem to think that all of these new laws, bans and compromises seem to be a good thing unless they served in the military and fought in a WAR.

But there are some, NOT all, military and peace officer people who think that THEY should be the ones to own x, y and z and they should not be made available to the general public too.

I support people buying, owning and shooting what they LIKE TO SHOOT and what suits them in all ways. Weight wise, size wise, looks wise, color wise, capacity wise, brand name, model, etc.

Just because I own and like some guns more than others does not mean that I would choose to DICTATE to any person what he/she likes in firearms.
What suits ME at my size, age-69 years old and disability may not suit you.
Vice versa!

Seriously, the OLDER people that I know, retired military, retired peace officers, some men who are still active and/or working who are OVER 50 YEARS OLD do NOT, not and not support all of these anti RKBA ideas or laws.

Once they figured it out and actually PAID ATTENTION to some of us and what was going on in gun political issues, they woke up and smelled the coffee. I know that for a FACT when it comes to some of the people that I know here in MT, in the Great Lakes region - boonies and on the East Coast - rural and in the cities.

And the old fashioned, REALLY conservative, true Rs and true Libertarians are really FED UP with the people in power - Rs and Ds and the constant flip flopping words, actions, erratic behavior and general screwing of the middle class, retired, and working people.

They are tired of being told one thing and in 10 minutes or less told another thing. Lies! It most certainly is not a chess game and makes many people look downright goofy or ill informed or just plain crazy. Maybe those R and D leaders need a red flag law put on them! LOL

And don't get me started on the communist and socialist gun grabbing freaks either!

Many of us do NOT put the District of Criminal leaders on some freaking altar and we don't fall for CULT LIKE LEADERS in any party.

We know what the Ds want to do with us in the RKBA issue and we know that the Rs will do it to us too.

I know or am pretty sure that the red flag laws and the UBC will be put in place on the Federal level. I have been saying this here and elsewhere.

More crapola will come too. Mark my words.

I can't say more since it is not allowed here.

Which is better?

A "friend" that stabs you in the back when you aren't expecting it because they think it will help them - or an enemy that is open about being your enemy so you can expect how they will act?
