What needs to happen is the U.S. Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of the federal operation needs to meet with the Assistant U.S. Attorney and raise the issue. If they can work out a team response the issue could be addressed.

Crowd laser use should result in LRAD use.

What Is the LRAD Sound Cannon?
I was kinda surprised we didn't see this myself. We have some out here on the ship I work on and when security does training with them, even at the lowest setting, it's quite obnoxious. It would certainly push the crowd back a few paces....

PPB has a couple good LRAD set ups.
That was one of the very first things Ted and Jo Ann commanded them to quit using the first week this all broke out.

Feds should've boxed the entire public square with LRADs. The nice thing about the tents is that they'd have acted like ziplock bags for the vomit coming out of the inhabitants.

Also, I agree that lethal force response would not be parity with someone trying to blind you with a laser.

Breaking their orbital bone with a crowd control munition or physically ripping their eye out of their head would be.

Meanwhile over here, a friend's son - a kid soccer referee in his spare time - had a laser shone on him during a game at a local park. He ran over to the shinee, ripped it out of his hand and shoved it down his throat - through his front teeth, with a large and hairy fist.

How to explain THAT to the people in ER? - but it probably went something like this ' AKAKakakakakakAkAkAkaaaaakkakakakakkkkaaaaak..' You can bet he'll not be doing it again for some considerable time,

BTW, the strong reaction might be due to a couple of things -

1. He is a retired Army Aviation Apache pilot - now a mediflight chopper pilot, and -

2. He has actually had his cockpit lit up at night by a person or persons using a green laser whilst carrying injured RTA victims to ER, he being one of a few night-flying qualified air ambulance pilots in UK.

He can claim PTSD as a defence if it even went that far, and I'd be shocked if any charges would be dismissed instantly.

Although it should never go that far. And the offending punk should be crapping out CR123's for a week.

UK: Suspended sentence, rehab for 55-year-old who aimed a laser pen at a helicopter after it interrupted his audiobook
30 Jan 2020 -- Categories: Probation | Treatment program | Sex: Male
Stephen Reid, 55
Kentish Town, northwest London, UK

On July 18 2019 Reid aimed a blue laser pen at a police helicopter that was searching for an individual. Reid did so because the helicopter noise was interrupting his listening to an audiobook.

The helicopter aimed a spotlight at Reid, who threw away the laser pen in his back yard. When ground officers came to his home, Reid would not admit them. They had to threaten to use force before he opened the door.

A blue and a green laser pointer were found by a canine unit. Reid admitted the lasers were his.

In court in January 2020, Reid's attorney said Reid was "plagued by police helicopters searching for individuals…. Something got into his head and he utilized this laser pen to cause what could have been a catastrophe."

On January 29 2020, the judge gave Reid a four-month sentence suspended for 18 months, plus he had to complete a 60-day rehabilitation program.

The judge said "Any distraction and that helicopter is crashing into an urban area with devastating consequences. You were irritated, frustrated and annoyed at what they were doing interrupting your audiobook and it's clear you were not thinking about the consequences of your behaviour. By the finest margin I can imagine I can suspend this sentence. You've caught me on a good day."

Aaaaaaand......................

THE Government is today set to clampdown on laser pointers, meaning anyone caught firing one at a vehicle can be jailed for five years.
Sussex is one of the worst affected areas for laser attacks on aircraft - because Gatwick Airport is frequently targeted.
The latest official figures show there were 55 incidents involving lasers at Gatwick Airport in 2015.
The new rules will give councils extra powers to tests laser pens and ban them from sale.
Since 2013, 150 people - mainly children- have suffered serious eye injuries.

Today's measures expand the list of vehicles it is an offence to target with lasers after it emerged laser beam attacks against the rail network were also a concern. British Transport Police records show they suffer about 96 incidents a year.
People who shine laser devices at any transport operators could be jailed for up to five years.
The changes to the law also mean it will no longer be necessary to prove intent to cause harm, simply pointing a laser at a vehicle will be enough for convictions.

On December 18 five aircraft approaching Gatwick airport reported that green laser light was aimed at them. Four of the incidents occurred between 7pm and 8:00 pm; the fifth occurred around midnight.
The illuminations occurred as they flew over Ashdown Forest, with police saying they believed those responsible were located in the Hartfield area.
Consumer minister Margot James said: "The Government has listened to concerns from pilots, health professionals and safety experts, which is why we are going further than ever before to crack down on the sale of unsafe devices.
"Public safety is of the utmost importance and we are working to increase the public's knowledge of the potential dangers associated with these devices and strengthening the penalties for when they are misused."
Professor John O'Hagan, of Public Health England's laser and optical radiation dosimetry group, said: "Over time we have become increasingly concerned about the dangers of growing numbers of unlabelled and incorrectly labelled high power laser pointers being bought by the public.

"It is tragic that we continue to see eye injuries, especially in children. Laser safety experts at Public Health England have worked closely with local authorities in stopping large numbers of these lasers reaching UK consumers.
"The extra protections proposed should help even further - if you have a laser and you don't need it, remove the batteries and get rid of it."

Hmm. "Protocol on Blinding Laser Weapons".

I think Tear-gas-Tad, and the council, along with the Guvnah, figure green laser use is a 1st Amendment Right.

lol, more of that double speak huh? Would be cool if all war crimes were thought of as war crimes, but I guess that's too much to expect. Still, funny coming from an INGSOC avatar.
So that's your strategy? ****post a thread that disturbs and bothers you until you can get it shut down?

Worked last time. Try again!

@oldcorpgunny - this is Turbo.
Turbo thinks it's ok and justified to blind people with lasers.

It's pretty amazing to me that any reasonable person would try to defend radical behavior.
If you want to defend truly peaceful protests, that's fine; I'm with you on that one, but when you defend the behavior of violent radicals who blind people with lasers, burn cars and buildings, etc., you lose all credibility.

There are a couple guys on here that I thought were fairly reasonable, even given their strong leftward tilt, but they've lost any and all credibility in my mind, by constantly defending radical, extremist behavior. On the Right we call it Reactionary- to defend behavior that goes too far, simply because your ideological opponent condemns it.

What if these "protesters" managed to block the exits of a police building with dumpsters and burn it to the ground (as they've tried), killing dozens of police officers? Would you say that went too far, or would you cheer and celebrate with your radical buddies in the street? How far is too far? What crimes of violence and destruction are too much?

A reasonable person would also admit "Oops, my bad" when caught trying to spread false information.

Very well put. I like your style. :s0155:
