Just to be clear I brought up the Opium Wars for understanding and insight, not justification. It was wrong by the British and others and China's role in the drug trade today is every bit as repugnant.
China has always played the long game, and it they are settling the score with the west today (As I believe they are) for offenses that go back to the 1800's then everyone who lives in Japan should be soiling themselves with America's waning ability to protect them from retribution for WW2 atrocities.
