When the Kungflu-Virus starts to re-animate it's victims, and they start to wander around in herds, looking for brains to eat....
.... Of coarse, in a very short order they'll starve.

But, future generations will probably not call it SHTF.... they'll it call something catchy like "Duuhhh" or "When the Freestuff Ended", the "GTPD* "

** Great Toilet Paper Drought

I believe it's being predicted to kill more people than the flu. By up to 10x

It is. The lethality has been documented to be many times that of the seasonal flu. Yes, the death toll, as of this writing, is significantly lower than the 2019—2020 influenza season. However, keep in mind this outbreak wasn't officially labeled a pandemic until yesterday.

I think (as we've seen from this thread) that "SHTF" is a personal decision when faced incrementally... like art and porn, it's tough to define but we know it when we see it.

Pampered whipdicks in the PNW will make shortages where none should exist. Yeah, other regions too but we're here so let's stick with the locals.

Portland weather-nerds say it might snow later and there's a run on water, toilet paper, milk/eggs/bread... you bugging-in and making French toast? WTF? Do you dingdongs even get that you live in a temperate zone and snow, such as it is, will hamper travel for a day or two at most?

Being a trucker, I LOVE Montana in the winter... no matter how brutal the temps and snow get, MT-ians are like, "I've got enough crap in my basement to last 6 mos... I ain't going anywhere".

By contrast, OR and WA people have a sense of entitlement... "I wwaaaant to be over there and I'm nooooot...".
"Yeah, but your car is a POS, it's snowing, the Gorge (or Snoqualmie Pass) is closed, and you have 0 experience driving in the snow... don't go"
"Yeah, but I waaaaant to be over there and I'm heeeeere..." You're not the boss of me.

Jeez...

I spent all of last winter in MT attempting to train a replacement driver (our guy was disabled in a 5-truck, multiple fatality pile-up outside of Missoula) and had to go all thumbs-down on a couple of prospects because it just wasn't the place for OJT or amateur hour... mess up out here (there) and it could cost a life or two. For their own safety and that of the company I just couldn't give them a green light.

THOSE are the people jumping the SHTF bandwagon and making life harder for the rest of us. They cause artificial shortages on common items and drive up costs. Portland had snow two yrs ago and people bought 5 yrs worth of TP... yet those same people are fighting at Costco and Walmart for the same items.

So any other oregonians a little displeased KB got her cap and trade thru thanks to corona?

Wonder what else she wants to sign while we're in a state of emergency that's the real SHTF.

Maybe a little gun control, you never know what those covid-19 patients are going to do when the stores limit the tp to one roll per customer. Oh and a sales tax too.

For those looking for TP; just go to Big Lots, Bi-Mart, Fred Meyer, Grocery Outlet. These in Albany have quite a supply of TP available. Can't say the same for the disinfecting sprays/wipes/hand sanitizers though  plenty of lotions, soaps, cleaning chemicals on the other hand.

I thought Cap and Trade died this go around because there were no quorum for this session thanks to most of the Republicans walking out? I'm seeing articles claiming that this years session was "disappointing","unfairly held hostage", and so on

Look again she just signed it on March 10th. Haven't seen a single person on this site mention it only found out from my boss the other day while out at K1 speedway.

If you can't find TP, use the bandsaw to cut down the brawny rolls:)

Does it matter that it's set up for wood right now instead of fine tooth???

I've seen nothing about "Cap and Trade" being signed. Not anywhere. I did however, read a story about her Executive Order making the Oregon DEQ change to fuel standards. As I wrote elsewhere, welcome to $4.50 per gallon fuel!!

Well. Great. Executive actions. I hope this galvanizes the Rural communities and Timber Unity to push lawsuits and get recalls/elimination elections underway against them...
I'd hope that most on this site see this. This legislative session also had gun control in the agenda.

Whose to say something couldn't happen while people are panick buying or out of precaution for safety admist this virus....
