For once I was lucky and I am pretty sure it is due to the type of snow we had. I was crossing my fingers when we got the freezing rain, but it wasn't that heavy and we didn't get much in the way of fallen branches or trees up here. Just really slick roads.

Now it's on front page of Britain's sky news also:

We ended up with about 4-6" of ice in yard from tree icecicles falling.

I'm about sick of looing at it. Left the house this afternoon for the first time since the first of the snow. Picked up the new water valve for the washer that broke and spewed water in the garage. It felt good to be out. Getting to the car, without falling, was a chore. Nothing to do about that with the drifted snow covered with an inch of ice.

ordered a bunch of R21 insulation for the well house
R13 may be spec for this area for 2x4 construction, but it didn't insulate sufficiently for this winter
also installing pipe heating tapes on the pipes - using soil heating cables was just an emergency
at least we didn't have any pipes burst
we have our secondary refrigerator and upright freezer outside on the covered porch - no food spoilage here
we can store food and wine outside without fear of theft out here - try this in Portland!!
our kitchen is set up with air fryer, microwave, toaster oven and instant pot, all capable of being run off the generator
full meals were never an issue during the power outage

P.S. my stock pile of wine did not freeze!!

I use the same - we get it on the Indian Reservation near La Center
ethanol gas tends to eat up the fuel lines and carburetor if stored in the generator
By Ilani? Their own station before the casino? That would be convenient.

I also add some Lucas treatment to gas also and gas preservative.

yes, at ilani, the blue pumps
I recommend it for all small engines
it also last longer in storage, but I add Stabil for long term storage of fuel
but if i need a chainsaw in the middle of a cold, rainy night, I got a 56V 18" bar battery chainsaw 3 years ago
to many times my stored gas for the chain saw was bad when I needed the saw

WTF is that green stuff in your yard? I ain't seen nothin' like that since the first of November! We now have about 15" of very fluffy snow. Got all the way up to 13° today! That's or high temp for the last two weeks.
I just turned down a job out your way, I'm kicking myself for not taking it. The cold and snow doesn't bother me at all. It was in big timber, I think the wind would have got to me

We don't get a lot of wind right where we're at, just outside of Kalispell, but Big Timber does!
You should have jumped at the job and gotten yourself out of Oregone.

I was in Big Timber last summer, they have a huge gun shop with alcohol and tobacco, a real ATF!
