You have to be careful about people who ask full retail for used firearms. They are often taking advantage of the fact that some people cannot legally buy a new firearm.

That may be the case sometimes, but I think it's more likely on account of the widespread notion that guns are an "investment" and therefore don't lose much if any value on account of being used. The classic example of why people believe that sort of thing is the SKS. There was a time when you could get a Chinese SKS for $60 and a Russian one for $80, but these days they're more like $250 and $350 respectively. The person selling maybe just doesn't realize that it doesn't always work that way with any gun, either that, or they realize it and hope that the would-be buyers don't.

-I have one of those POS guns. Did a couple minor tweaks, and it runs fine with high velocity .22. Lol. Regular .22 it hiccups... but many .22 pistols are ammo picky... P22, Mosquito. Though I have noticed that the Buckmark isn't, and the Ruger isn't supposed to be. Lol.

I hate seeing retail pricing, or even above retail pricing on used guns. Anything used, if currently on the market, is going to sell for less than list price. Now, if you bought an older surplus gun a few years ago... I would say that it has most likely appreciated in value.

Gun snobbery generally bothers me. Those who hold the idea that if it isn't LMT, Noveske, Weatherby, etc. etc. etc. it's junk. If a machine is built well, and within manufacturer's specs... it's GOING to run, mechanically, it has no choice.

My favorite: 1911s are unreliable, and Glocks are the greatest thing since sliced bread.
I don't suppose one could argue that they are both fine platforms (having owned both), and that it is really a matter of taste and comfort that dictate which you prefer?

+1 I was at a BBQ with non-gun owners and the guy used a shotgun application on his iphone to "rack the slide" on his nonexistent shotgun as a theft deterrent for would-be burglars. He later admitted to having some sort of rifle at his father's house, but no ammo.

Once had a member of a different forum berate me, including throwing in tons of personal insults, because I questioned his recommendation of a CZ-82 for someone who was in the market for a pocket pistol.

I never said it was a bad gun, or a poor choice of a concealed carry gun, just that being an all-steel gun military surplus with a double-stack magazine (weighing in at over 2 pounds when fully loaded), it really didn't lend itself to pocket carry.
