More shootings vs fewer murders/deaths compared to Detroit. I suspect the Portland firearm of choice to be a MAC 10 likely 9mm... maybe the gangs in Detroit just have better shooters?

I am sad that Portland has become what it is. Its a shame. I grew up in north Portland born and raised. It was rough as a kid. But i grew up got married had kids and bought a house in st johns. We sold in March and escaped the devastation. I feel very lucky and blessed to not live in Portland anymore. Its so sad that such a beautiful city can fall so far.

All of them are blue cities with really large inner city areas. Things that make you go hmmmmmmmmm.

It's actually not a decision in most cases. There are no good poeple running for offices. For example for mayor the choice was (1) weakling-let's-just-talk-about-everything-pander-to-Hardesty-but-do-nothing wheeler, or (2) self proclaimed antifa member and borderline psychotic ultra socialist lady (can't remember her name, inona or something like that). It is not a matter of voting decisions, as if there was a decent choice available.

In addition we have a screwball commission government (I think it's the only big city in US that still has it). What we have right now is wheeler, the DA Schmidt who won't prosecute anyone for most offenses unless they are perceived as right wing, and Hardesty. That unholy trinity is simply a recipe for disaster by themselves not even taking into account any of the other commissioners.

Because they will not wast time and money. The state said they liked Kate. When voters act like that why would someone "good" bother to try? The people who think Kate is great are not going to vote for someone better especially in Potland. If the voters ever start to show they really have had enough? Then you will see better choices step up to take a swing at it.

Don't forget to mention that kate brown won that election with 50.1% of the vote That's 50.1%!!!!

It's a 2-3 block area which is the boundary of two rival gangs. There are roughly 3 shootings in those same 2 blocks every week. It can't be that hard to stop it. If there were police, they could have an actual policeman there. Note that this the same spot where a park ranger pickup was riddled with bullet holes as two unarmed park rangers sat inside.

I haven't seen that map. I wonder what it looked like back in '83 when I moved to near inner NE potland. 27th and Killingsworth? I know there was a lot of dope flowing and burglaries. You can sure see where the "Cream" of potland lives on those maps though! Doesn't seem to have any gang activity.
