Utah (/ˈjuːtɔː/ or /ˈjuːtɑː/; Navajo: Áshįįh bi Tó Hahoodzo; Arapaho: Wo'tééneihí ) is a state in the western United States. It became the 45th state admitted to the Union on January 4, 1896. Utah is the 13th-largest, the 31st-most populous, and the 10th-least-densely populated of the 50 United States. Utah has a population of nearly 3 million (Census estimate for July 1, 2015), approximately 80% of whom live along the Wasatch Front, centering on Salt Lake City. Utah is bordered by Colorado to the east, Wyoming to the northeast, Idaho to the north, Arizona to the south, and Nevada to the west. It also touches a corner of New Mexico in the southeast.
Approximately 62% of Utahns are reported to be members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or LDS (Mormons), which greatly influences Utah culture and daily life. The world headquarters of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) is located in Utah's state capital, Salt Lake City. Utah is the most religiously homogeneous state in the United States, the only state with a Mormon majority, and the only state with a majority population belonging to a single church.
The state is a center of transportation, education, information technology and research, government services, mining, and a major tourist destination for outdoor recreation. In 2013, the U.S. Census Bureau estimated that Utah had the second fastest-growing population of any state. St. George was the fastest–growing metropolitan area in the United States from 2000 to 2005. Utah also has the 14th highest median average income and the least income inequality of any U.S. state. A 2012 Gallup national survey found Utah overall to be the "best state to live in" based on 13 forward-looking measurements including various economic, lifestyle, and health-related outlook metrics.
Took the time to learn at Glynn's Firearm Training in Hillsboro, early September, and received my UT CFP in the mail, today. 😎
Can now plan trips to Seattle, Long Beach, and so on.
A convicted felon in possession fires at police in a walmart parking lot and attempts to carjack a person at gun point. Minnesota let's him out on bail only to turn around in Utah... transporting 9lbs of meth, steals a cop car during a traffic stop, uses the LEO's rifle to shoot at officers...
Adding this to the list of reasons I'll never own one.
I loves me some clean burning Guzz-o-line engines, and if the governments want to do away with that.... I'll gladly switch to nitro-methane 👹:)
I have my Oregon CCL and want to apply for Utah one as well so I have more places that I can carry. Any tips in applying? It also mentioned that I need a "firearms familiarity course certified by BCI." - is this something I can do in Oregon?
Just did my online Utah CPL renewal. Was pretty straight forward other than wrestling with my pos HP printer that didn't want to scan until it suddenly decided that maybe, ok, I'll do my job just this one time... grrr.
Anyway, was pretty simple to renew online, but have ready a passport photo...
So for those wondering about life in the mountain west, I thought I would post a brief review of life in Utah vs the PNW. Starting with pros / cons compared to Oregon / Washington. Though this mostly applies to Utah, some of the discussion will apply to ID, MT, WY as well.
Pros:
- All of...
So I am moving to WA soon, I have an OR CHL and Utah... Will I need to get a WA CHL once I move there or will Utah still apply? I know some states only allow out of state licenses if non-resident, can't find out where WA stands on this.
Concealed Carry Permit class Saturday October 16th 10am at the Bible Baptist Church 1015 S Columbus Ave., Goldendale Washington. Course covers Utah and Oregon. No need to sign up, just show up. Cost is 50.00 per person, bring a pen. Class should last an hour or so.
I have 5 boxes (20 rounds each) of WW2 production 30/06. As is typical of this ammo, some of the cartridge tips are poking out of the boxes. Great stuff to shoot and reload.
$25 a box
I do come down to portland frequently and sometimes north of
seattle as well.
Going to travel soon and Utah CCW covers all the states I will be crossing. I had one years ago expired, who do we know around Tigard who can do this certification?
Jogger encountered kitten then enraged mother. In the middle can hear him say, "where is my gun????" My thoughts, at least a warning shot somewhere earlier. Again, my thoughts kill shot along the way. Yes, she is just being defense, but way to aggressive far too long...
