You can't afford it only because the ATF has limited the supply, making the prices of those few available skyrocket. Regressive and quite unfair.

I agree with your assessment supply and demand, but the ATF didn't do it, Congress did. I paid the cost of entry into the FA game, but would gladly lose my equity if the Hughes amendment was repealed. I doubt it'll ever happen and with the internet taking the mystery out of NFA ownership I foresee demand and prices going nowhere but up. Washington state legalizing silencers earlier this year had a noticeable effect on silencer demand and is one of the elements of longer wait times for stamps.
