Discount for NWFA members? =p

My mom wants a pool here, but I think a hot tub would suffice.

I don't sell or install either. Just fix 'em when they break!

But she can consider this:

Swimming Pool - $60,000 - $75,000
Monthly Maintenance - Done by owner (cleaning, chemicals, etc.) $75.00.
- Done weekly by a professional $ 415.00.
- Repairs (Yearly average) $300-$500.
- Electricity $ 60.00 - $75.00 per month during season.
- Add $300 - $500 per month for heat during season.
- Winterizing/Spring Openings $350.00 - $600.00 each.

Spa - $3500 - $12,000 (with stereo, surround sound & flat screen TV)
Monthly Maintenance - Done by owner (cleaning, chemicals, etc.) $15.00.
- Done weekly by a professional $ 350.00.
- Repairs (Yearly average) $100.00.
- Electricity (includes heat) $ 45.00-$60.00 per month.

So, as you can see. There is a huge difference!!

NWFA discount - 10% on parts and labor.

Cool, thank you for that information! I'll pass it on.

Pools out here are def. more expensive then back in Texas!

Medical embedded software engineer. I design and develop embedded software inside implanted pacemakers and defibrillators.
What was really cool was to actually watch the implantation of one of our defibrillators at Salem Hospital. They test the device by executing what's called a "shock-on-T" test that forces the patient's heart into ventricular fibrillation. The defibrillator then detects the arrhythmia, charges up for a 20 joule shock (at least in this particular case), confirms the arrhythmia one more time, then delivers the shock to put the patient back into sinus rhythm. You can watch the whole process on a dedicated ECG display. And you can visibly see the patient jump when the shock is delivered! :s0001:
Most people would be amazed at how sophisticated these little devices have become over the years.

I ama foremanfora sheetmetalshop. We do heating and air and I run a crew that installes ductwork. Well at least I did last week.lol Next week I will be a bum and collect unemployment.

Don't feel too bad... I'm a HVAC-R service-tech (used to be a tinner as well) and I'm on the dole right now too! It took a while for the state of the economy to "trickle up" to our professions, didn't it?

Fortunately I have money in savings to make up the difference from unemployment so I can keep making the mortgage payments... so hopefully this will just be a "summer vacation" for me... never had one of those since 1985 when I graduated H.S.... :D

I hear ya Stomper. Last summer we were working 60 to 70hrs a week just to keep up. I put all the overtime and thensomein the bank. I have been doing this long enough to know better.
If it is just a summer vacation that would be cool.
What shop do you workfor. I work at Americanheating. A non union shop. Dont hate me.lol

In my non-union days:

Climate Control 5-yrs.
Courtesty Heating & Cooling (my own company) 2-yrs.
Roth Heating & Cooling 8-yrs.
HVAC, Inc. 1-yr.

My UA Local-290 Union days:

Portland Mechanical 3-yrs.
Alliant Systems 1-yr. .... then the economy took a dump.

I'm seriously thinking about looking into getting on with a Police Dept. somewhere (although the pay isn't as good... when I'm working that is). I think Salem PD is hiring, and I have 3-yrs. in Law Enforcement... back in the 80's... who knows. For now I'm just going to ride this out for a while... I keep hearing rumors that the economy has hit its ebb and may be on the way back up. :s0131:
