I practice draw, fire, and move drills from contact distance out to 10 yards.

25 yards, I figure if I can keep most of the shots on a 12 inch target at 25 yards it only gets better the closer the target

I shoot a modified FBI qualification on a NRA B-6 target.

- 5 rounds strong 10 seconds at 10 yards no support
- 5 rounds strong, 5 rounds weak 10 seconds each string, at 15 yards no support
- 5 rounds strong, 5 rounds weak 20 seconds each string, at 25 yards no support
- 5 rounds strong, supported, no time limit at 50 yards.

The goal is 70% plus on target.

I generally shoot 7-10 yards with SD pistols. I'll shoot a longer distance with long barrel magnums.

5 to 15 yards is the normal practice range. But 25 yeard parget drills are very useful to focus your aiming skills.

I mainly shoot revolvers, and I will put my 12in steel plate out to 75-85 yards. A lot of fun to shoot, and I can usually keep 4 out of the 6 shots on the steel.
