If a gate opens automatically for vehicles coming from the inside, you can take a set of jumper cables, clip red to red and black to black forming a loop, and place it over the sensor loop in the roadway. When that opens the gate, drive through and retrieve the cables.

Did that all the time at Charles Shultz airport.

Regarding gates and jumper cables: be sure that the cables form a single turn, not a coil. The idea is to form a maximum area wire loop which affects the sensor the same as a large metal object, i.e. a car or truck.

Also, if you can throw a lasso, you can throw the cable loop over the sensor from outside the gate.

I've never read or seen this elsewhere but knowing about transformers made this self evident. And it works!

There may be some short-term merit in it for the doors which use batteries, but eventually those batteries will die and not be replaced. It's another tool in the toolbox, but not a high-priority one for me
