What Were Police Thinking? News About the Uvalde School Shooting Just Keeps Getting Worse and Worse.

Still looking at the Command, rather than the duty officers who were following orders.

" .... The officers, armed with rifles and at least one ballistic shield, were in the hallway near the classroom at 11:52 a.m.—58 minutes before they breached the locked classroom, and 19 minutes after the gunman entered the school. At 12:03 p.m. a second officer with a ballistic shield arrived, followed by a third a few minutes later.

"Investigators believe this is significant because it indicates they had more than enough firepower and protection to enter the classroom before they did," wrote Plohetski. "Officers were growing impatient far sooner: 'If there's kids in there we need to go in there,' one said on body camera video."

Uvalde and all the rest: on reading press coverage carefully – ever so carefully.
The bright side of this is that the cops all made it out alive.

Our culture demands "nice" and "friendly" or "people oriented" officers now. Well this is what you get. And kids will keep dying while "men" with guns stand outside in safety cause it's "what they were trained/told to do."

I have experienced this kind of thing personally!!!!

It's called community policing. Translates to, ignore what's going on around you and only enforce laws and codes when forced into a corner. Basically, drive around with blinders on, trying not to see something that should be addressed.

The way things are "evolving" and the fact that the Uvalde PD is not cooperating makes my believe sooner or later it will be announced that responding officers killed a student(s) and/or teacher via "friendly fire", just watch.

"Parents and reporters were asked to leave Uvalde City Hall this afternoon before a Texas House of Representatives committee held a hearing to gather testimony from officers involved in the response ..."
Why...??? Is the quiet part gonna come out now...??? o_O

"No F' you, I am staying right here, if you physically try to make I am going to resist, go ahead and arrest me it will be part of my pending law suit".

What kind of training would you advise police to have to deal with a scenario that is "terrible and shocking," but statitically extremely rare compared to other criminal activity they face on a daily basis?

This isn't a police issue in my opinion, they aren't supermen. This is a political issue where politicians continue to demand teachers be bullet sponges for students instead of being able to return fire, which WOULD actually be a deterrent and likely save lives either reactively by killing these POS who try this, or proactively by these POS not trying it because they know people are armed.
Here's my answer...

"An abject failure": Uvalde cops could have neutralized the shooter within three minutes, says Texas DPS chief

" I've never seen a cop throw another cop under the bus like this in public testimony.

"But then, Texas DPS chief Steve McCraw was fed so much BS by responding officers about what happened during the standoff — much of which he regurgitated to the press — that he may have treated this morning's testimony before the Texas legislature as payback time."

DPS Special Agent (SA) indicates he wants to go clear more rooms. An unknown Officer replies, "Don't... [unreadable] ...supervisor approve that?" to which DPS SA replies, "He's not my supervisor."

We need more folks like that Special Agent.

I could run down a list of tax paid reasons, reporters should have access to show the public but it would be too long.

That town has something wrong. Not conspiracy wrong, they just seem afraid to shed light on how they do business. Most small towns are about water rights and cows blocking the road. This small town has many government agencies but no competency or transparency.

If someone in a position of authority is having a panic attack because reporters are in the room, we call that a clue. Seems to run city wide there when the pressure is on.

So . . .

Teacher is shot and dying
Calls her POLICE OFFICER husband for help
He shows up and the other officers at the school, stop him, TAKE HIS GUN AWAY and escort him out of the building

I bet the officers wife was a capable shot. Being armed with more than a phone might have made a big difference.
