Maybe gangs are extending their territory now that there is no police enforcement for anything? This old gang map shows some traditionally bad places. Still today most of the shootings take place around these. Although se 122nd is really bad and se 82nd. Especially se82 near foster/Powell. That area is really dangerous. Burgerville just closed their restaurant on 96th and Powell citing too much human feces and drug needles on the premises makes it unsafe for employees to work there. It's a pit.
It's also hard to distinguish gang criminals from homeless criminals now with all the homeless drug places/chop shops everywhere. Here is a photo from behind Safeway on 26th and Hawthorne where a guy was shot on the bus in the last couple weeks:
