Places to shoot near Cathlamet

Friend of mine wants me to take him shooting for the first time and he lives in Cathlamet, anyone know of good shooting spots nearby? I'll be traveling down there from Everett.

Do you just want to go out in the woods and set up some targets?
Quite a bit of public access land around the Elochoman River. If your friend gets out and about much, he would probably know better than me. I used to bow hunt that area, but haven't been for 5-6 years. If you're looking for something more "organized" have him meet you at Cowlitz County Gun Club. Exit 53 (I think) on I-5. Take a 15 min class, pay $15 and shoot all day. Limited to 300 yds though. Would be a shorter trip for him than for you, if he's mobile.
