Shooting This Afternoon Near Powells

Maybe gangs are extending their territory now that there is no police enforcement for anything? This old gang map shows some traditionally bad places. Still today most of the shootings take place around these. Although se 122nd is really bad and se 82nd. Especially se82 near foster/Powell. That area is really dangerous. Burgerville just closed their restaurant on 96th and Powell citing too much human feces and drug needles on the premises makes it unsafe for employees to work there. It's a pit.

It's also hard to distinguish gang criminals from homeless criminals now with all the homeless drug places/chop shops everywhere. Here is a photo from behind Safeway on 26th and Hawthorne where a guy was shot on the bus in the last couple weeks:

My grandfather knew the Kowalskis. Born in Perth Amboy, NJ, but family moved to Hamtramck when he was about 5-y.o.. They lived on Holbrook, two blocks from the Kowalski plant which was built in 1920. My grandpa eventually paved their parking lot decades later after starting his own paving company. I've eaten more Kielbasa that I care to admit. LOL.

My uncle -- an Irishman -- actually ran for mayor Hamtramck in the '50s. As you could imagine, an Irishman running in Hamtramck stood about as much chance of election as a rancher getting elected president of PETA. So that added an 'a' to the end of his name, Art Rooksa! Still lost the election...

No pertinent facts, obfuscation of the parties involved ( woman and 2 children sounds sympathetic, when it's probably an 18+yr old female and a pair of 16 or 17 yr old dudes). And most likely a picture of a gun that has nothing to do with the shooting.

Looks like apathy of the legal system has an ugly side. Who would have thought? Correct me if I a wrong, but in Oregon, outside of Multnomah county where is this happening? Seems like the plan is to do nothing until you have a Detroit or Chicago scenario.

Sure seems like it to me. My neighborhood, "Cully", was just a very diversified area. There's a push up here to fill in every available space with "people". Older, '40s homes, are being deconstructed and 6 plexes are being put on standard 50'x100' lots. Larger apartment buildings with 3-5, or more, levels are being built on larger lots with little or NO off street parking. Neighborhoods near these apartments have LOST the parking in front of their homes as apartment dwellers park on the street a block or more away from their buildings. This is happening all over the East side. Pack more and more rats into a cage and you end up with the rats eating each other. It's just starting.

On the east side of potland North to South major arterials are having lanes taken out and modified extended curbs being built that has buses stopping blocking the lane rather than being able to pick-up/drop-off pulled over.

The planners of this city are mentally deranged. How on earth can these minds believe that stifling traffic flow in a city of over 650,000 people can do anything but hurt the atmosphere and people living here?

Unfortunately they believe that everyone will ride bikes (they never heard that it rains in Portland apparently) or take the bus if they create more traffic problems. Numerous main roads reduced from 4 lanes to 2, making roads bicycle only, parking spaces removed, etc etc all designed to make it harder to drive by car.

The only thing they have accomplished is make people late to work, increased road rage, and force people to use residential streets to drive because everywhere else is blocked. Then the residents complain too many cars and driving to fast on residential streets. There is not enough $ to repair potholes but speed bumps near me have been added 3 times and they keep revisiting to put up more signs and road blocking barriers. It's completely idiotic.

So all their plans for a clean air future don't include people like me. My knee and hips are having issues, because of just being used for 60+ years. Okay. So be it. I can do a lot of stuff with my body still. For a certain amount of time, NOT like I could 10 years ago. These dicks are expecting me to make trips taking 2 hours and use up valuable walking time do do something I could do in 40 minutes wit my car and use a fraction of the daily "Knee" time? Think of all the older than me people, in worse shape, that will just sit at home rather than getting out and doing what they still can because of the horrible driving conditions in potland. These dicks can't wait for us to kick off to gradually make their changes.
