The problem with "advisors" is they turn into "boots on the ground" in the thousands, with artillery/armor and air support.No. Putin's a thug. I'd be reluctant to commit the potential loss of life of any of my countrymen/women but if there were even 100 US Servicemembers and 100 from every other NATO Country "advising" there Putin wouldn't move.
The Russian National debt is $280 Billion and they have about $700 billion in reserves and with the price of oil where its at they are making out like bandits. The US National Debt is what, about $28 Trillion right now and skyrocketing and we respond to that crisis by cutting taxes and spending more. A LOT more. Our government is teetering on the edge of insolvency. Theirs is plodding along like always. A LOT of our base manufacturing has been moved overseas while their economy is largely self sufficient. . We'll go broke long before they will. What broke the soviet union? Money. If putin doesn't watch out he will spend russia into insolvency. How much cost per soldier per day? Logistics will get tricky. Will the richest man in the world ( yes Putin is) dip into the money he has been stealing for decades? Likely not.
The smartest thing for the world to do is to let him posture, beat his chest, ride his white horse shirtless, and spend more. Just do enough to keep him from going "hot". The russian economy is already in dire condition. Give it a little more time.
one way or another it's almost always about the money.
of course in a country run by thieves, thugs and murderers, what else could it be.
Ask yourself, why crimea and the Ukraine?
Plus they have the added advantage of being able to readily starve their own population for sport. An even bigger advantage is how much the world trusts them to do what they say they will, or won't. The fact that their neighbors have been joining NATO means nothing about their perceived character and trustworthiness. Is Western trickery. All hail mother Russia, right brah? The Russian National debt is $280 Billion and they have about $700 billion in reserves and with the price of oil where its at they are making out like bandits. That narrative about the Soviet Union falling apart because they were broke is our narrative. Their narrative is that the folks we call their oligarchs saw an opportunity in the late 80's and early 90's to cash out the country and moved on it.
I think the world trusts them to invade Ukraine. They say they will invade Ukraine and the chances are pretty good they will if they dont get their list of demands satisfied. They dont want NATO incusrion into their sphere of influence. They are actually pretty good at doing what they say and saying what they will do. Its us trying to read into it that is the problem.Plus they have the added advantage of being able to readily starve their own population for sport. Not good Germany, not good. Way to bow to your natural gas master.UK planes took a long detour around Germany to deliver weapons to Ukraine in case Russia invades
The weapons were transported on RAF planes that flew to Ukraine by an unusually long route: through Danish instead of German airspace.www.businessinsider.com
