So I am going to order an HK45. I went to order it at Fred Meyer and gave the young man the ID number 745001FC, he said he could only get 745001A5. Not wanting to order the wrong gun, I went home to look up the difference. On the HK site they list the "FC" at a price about $3 higher than the "A5" indicating that they have to be different in some way, right? But when I call them, because I could figure out the difference, they tell me that they are exactly the same. Then, as I looked a little closer, I noticed that the grips are different. And that the "FC" display images actually show two different guns.

I would appreciate it if someone could go to this link and compare the pictures of the gun displayed. I'm seeing two different grips. One has an indentation (like an XD) where the thumb would go while the other just has a smoothed groove (the one I want). HK swears that there is no difference.

Am I crazy?

Holy Crap! They changed the site within the last few hours of my first contact! The A5 listing isn't there anymore! Funny. Here is a link to a photo of the "A5"

Not the same.

I almost want to call ad spam on this post...

Wait, you can order an HK handgun at Fred Meyer..? They don't even sell firearms. Union scum, if you ask me. Horrible management, too.

Go on some HK forum for this one.

Newberg Fred Meyer does sell firearms. Don't know what you mean about the ad spam thing.

Actually.... some do! I thought the closest one around the Portland area was Newberg, but maybe more....

EDIT - yup, Newberg.

First of all, you are wrong about Fred Meyer not selling guns.

Second of all....do you own an American-made vehicle? It was made by "union scum".

Have you ever had anything shipped to you via UPS or the Post Office? It was delivered to you by "union scum".

I hope you never have a medical emergency, because the fire fighter or EMT who might be risking his life to save yours is also "union scum".

I respect the fact that opinions vary on the merits of labor unions. But the "union scum" comment was out of line and unneccessary, particularly in light of the fact that the original post was about HK handguns and had nothing to do with unions at all.

Thank our government for that.
"Our" laws have a points rating system for imported guns to stop those "cheap Saturday night specials" from coming here.
That bump is a thumb rest that adds points to a guns total score towards being a "legal" for import.
Take a look at most of the sub-compact autos (glock, etc) and you will see most all have that target gun "thumb rest".

Even though these guns cost $$$$$ and are made in the U.S., if a mfg. has a plant outside the U.S. the gun will have that bump.

Note: I think Scapoose Freddies has guns too.

Thanks for noticing the "thumb bump." I was starting to think I was the only one who could see it. Also, Scapoose, Bend, Newberg, and one other Freddies is carrying guns. Can't remember the last one.

"Union scum?" Look you fascist dupe, we would still have child sweat shops if it weren't for the labor movement. Pull your head out, turn off Fox news and read "A People's History of the United States" by Howard Zinn.

Actually, there are 2 others. They are Medford and Warrenton.

There is a thread about Fred's selling firearms on this site somewhere, but I am not motivated enough to find it to link to it.

I do not think I have a problem. I'm told that the first step to recovery is to admit your problem..... Screw them. I have NO problem.

No, I'd never buy an American car designed and built anytime after the '70s, but that's not on topic here. Anyway, read below.

Fascist? Well, that's quite a leap. Fascist, like NSDAP, Nazi socialists? lol
Please relax, don't get so snippin' angry with me, I'll explain why I feel this way.
I have a reason for despising the Fred Meyer Unions. I repeat, THE UNION THAT I HAD TO JOIN WHEN I WORKED AT A FRED MEYER STORE. (I forget which, local 555 or something) I worked for them years ago and they took a significant amount of money out of my paycheck, a disproportionate amount, along with all the other HS kids paying these unfairly high dues for the amount we were making, without receiving any benefits from them. None.

Yikes, who said I watch or even hinted at liking Fox News, anyway? Man, I hate to be preachy, and I don't disagree with you, but that isn't the way to start a debate.

Interesting. Perhaps Fred Meyer really is in touch with it's local market. I'm not surprised that the location omits it's firearm sales, knowing the area. Heh.

Hey so with firearms and ammo we do get an employee discount? My wife works at the Corvallis one but we haven't had a chance to hit up Newburg to check out the new section.

As for the union I have been pro union most of my life but the local Freddies here union crapped the bed right before the head of the local union here left office they screwed the employees out of vision and severely screwed them with their medical. Stupidly and luckily they said something and its being investigated. Hopefully we get vision back in the next 6 months to a year.

Tell me, do you get rewards points on a firearms purchase?:s0114:

You can also use those rebate coupons they send out on firearms and they have also had some of their firearms on sale as well. There are a few guys at the Newberg store I've talked to that are quite knowledgeable and last time I was in there one of them said that they've sold over 70 guns since they put gun counter in. Rock on.

Charles, sorry I jumped all over you but just saying "union scum" without the context of your history with this particular local pushed a button. Where I come from some things are fighting words. If you had uttered that phrase to my dad he would have taken you to the mat before you had a chance to explain. Anyway, sorry i jumped to the conclusion and the two F words. Peace.
