"A Congressional Research Service report estimated that there are between 10,000,000 and 40,000,000 pistol braces and pistol-braced firearms in common use."Not 1 in 10 popular

Not naming any names, "but I know a guy" who lives in my house who is certain they run at least half that popular...Not 1 in 10 popular
I think 10 mil is probably on the high side"A Congressional Research Service report estimated that there are between 10,000,000 and 40,000,000 pistol braces and pistol-braced firearms in common use."
From https://www.gunowners.org/time-for-congress-to-crack-down-on-the-atfs-pistol-brace-rule/
Now, I'm trying to find the specific report but it seems to be more likely that is how many have been produced for not just AR pistols, but also as retail items that haven't been attached... now, maybe not 1 in 10 popular but it certainly could be so if you consider 393 million complete firearms estimated, plus however many 80%, lowers, uppers, accessories are available (or were available).
What 80% lowers...???now, maybe not 1 in 10 popular but it certainly could be so if you consider 393 million complete firearms estimated, plus however many 80%, lowers, uppers, accessories are available (or were available).
However many privately made blocks of alloy and such there are that's off the booksWhat 80% lowers...???
Still have no idea what you're talking about...However many privately made blocks of alloy and such there are that's off the books
I think 10 mil is probably on the low sideI think 10 mil is probably on the high side
I think of that 10 mill ( give or take ) they'll get 200K tax stamp applications if thatI think 10 mil is probably on the low side
110 year head start. I have a hard time seeing more braced pistols than there are AR's in general10 million out of 393 million known guns is only 2.5% of guns. Seems low, even if that 393 million is not all braceable firearms (which it ain't)...
Not getting the "110-year head start" reference. Are you referring to NFA? That's an 89-year head start.110 year head start.
Never said that.I have a hard time seeing more braced pistols than there are AR's in general
400 million centerfire guns exist in the US since 1898 . Braced pistols have been around since 2014 ishNot getting the "110-year head start" reference. Are you referring to NFA? That's an 89-year head start.
I see. I was not following your train of thought.400 million centerfire guns exist in the US since 1898 . Braced pistols have been around since 2014 ish
Smokeless powder guns ( 1898) being the break in modern guns vs antiques.I see. I was not following your train of thought.
Yes, I knew that, but it didn't occur to me that that's what you were on about until you first mentioned "1898". Then I saw where you were coming from.Smokeless powder guns ( 1898) being the break in modern guns vs antiques.
Gosh - I know a guy who has 10 of them…Not naming any names, "but I know a guy" who lives in my house who is certain they run at least half that popular...
That argument has never been tested with the NFA . The courts have been pretty consistent in their deference to the gov't in firearms cases involving NFA related gear. Why does it matter 3 million or 30 million. It's still common use.
I think a good place to start would be the most popular of the firearms that would be likely to have a brace; the AR-15s.10 million out of 393 million known guns is only 2.5% of guns. Seems low, even if that 393 million is not all braceable firearms (which it ain't)...
If we say that 3/4 of known firearms in the US are pistols, and 1/4 of those pistols are braceable, and 50% of those braceable pistols actually have braces, then that's 37 million braced pistols. That's 10% of all known firearms. Just spitballin' numbers, but that doesn't seem too much out of line...
