I wonder how it malfunctioned in such a way as to point itself at her abdomen against her will? I'm guessing the "malfunction" was that it went bang when she pulled the trigger. I could be wrong, but it's only February, so what are the odds?

In some ways when a Sherriff says "malfunctioned" it seems better in terms of protecting gun owners, because saying someone was stupid and shot them self sounds like a better reason to ban a gun than faulty equipment.
