Don't care, I want them to stay away from me, I will handle my own problems. If there is a medical emergency I will state that clearly. those are the only "responders" that I want (if need be) on my property.
Don't call 911 accidentally.

Edit: point being, there are any number of reasons why someone calling 911 wouldn't be able to speak...

Sorry if I wasn't clear. It just seems like more and more of the posts I'm seeing on here (not just this thread) from the good folks in Idaho, are trying to discourage people from moving there. (Not that I blame them.) The comment wasn't directed at you or anyone else in particular.

Years ago Oregon's governor was Tom McCall. He was famously quoted as saying something along the lines of "Welcome to Oregon. Visit, but don't stay." I think his comment was primarily directed toward Californians. Bumper stickers with the quote were quite common.

Actually, I just Googled it and in an interview with CBS News in 1971, he was quoted as saying: "Come visit us again and again. This is a state of excitement. But for heaven's sake, don't come here to live."
Well…if you've lived in Boise as long as I have you would understand. Boise has been the fastest growing city in the country now for a couple years. I'm not blaming people for wanting to leave sh*#holes like LA or Portland. However, when you move from a sh*#hole like that…..and claim the reason why you left is people's attitudes and values that ruin a community. Only to bring all your bs with you and turn the place you lived in into the same thing…what's the point of leaving in the 1st place? I hate to admit it because I live here but, Boise is turning into a sh*#hole filled full of a bunch of pieces of *#*+!
You literally can't go anywhere with some idiot trying to run you off the road, there's trash everywhere. Fruitcakes on every damn corner and I will bet you a $100 bill that if you ask ANYONE now where they're from - they will tell you 9 out of 9.25 times….I'm from Southern Cali. and I moved here because I'm tired of all the bs.
Boise "used to be" a nice place, not so much anymore….and go drive up to the mountains- you'll see something you literally NEVER would see even a couple years years ago. Trash everywhere, fires left burning in makeshift illegal camps….even 15 miles up a trailhead in the Sawtooth's. People like that truly need to be hauled out into the desert and left to rot.
Don't get me started.

I grew up in Boise and moved AWAY from there 50 years ago. You can imagine the changes obvious from that particular era.

Even then, there was entire promotional campaigns lumping 'California people' . Check out the old Stinker Station ads. Even now & then I see photos of old signs posted around the net. One classic was "Dipping station" on the Jordan Valley line, as a reference to the then-current Cali border station checks.

Exactly!!!

Same as with people immigrating from a socialist country and then once here trying to change our county into the same type of system they were use to back in their home country "because it just does not feel right in their new adopted country so they want to make more like their old home" A quote from my ex Russian immigrant wife who could not let go of her communist past/thinking.

Oh, I do understand. This happened in Oregon long ago. I'm a SNOB (Son of a Native Oregonian Born) so I've witnessed the decline of this once great state firsthand. I don't think it will ever recover. At my age, I'm relatively certain I won't be alive to see it if it does. It just keeps getting worse. Some of the stuff I see in our National Forests turns my stomach. Where you would expect to perhaps find deer or elk, you find trash and needles instead.

Like many who live in Oregon, I've contemplated a move to Idaho. I know some who have made the move and don't regret it. It just seems like the attitude from the people already living there is "we don't need any more people". The same way I feel as the nearest small town builds a subdivision toward my neck of the woods. (In hindsight, my joke involving Tom McCall probably has a fairly small target audience = native Oregonians 60 and over.)

Apologies to the OP. I've thread drifted enough.

I called 911 the other weekend at 1:30am to report a drunk driver in the camp are. No one picked up, I let it ring for quite a few minutes. No one followed up the next morning or day.

To say that they're going to follow up on all 911 calls is wrong. I'm certain they'd like to try, but their resources are already stretched thin.

Many are missing RobMa's point, if the police were there to check up on a 911 call... a whole day later, why would they treat him like he'd done something wrong, without knowing the situation? Sure, you might say "because they're worried about their own safety", but there are plenty of other peace officers who would have handled the contact in a much more friendly and respectful manner. Perhaps that is the key word here, respect.

In RobMas case however it was not a whole day later - as he mentioned this happened yesterday WHEN the call was made.

I have to agree with this. Upon arrival it's expected for LEOs to be concerned about their own safety and act accordingly however if after they realize there is no danger to themselves or the others then they could most certainly calm down and 'lighten up' a bit - I am NOT saying drop their guard or become complacent but a bit more 'humanity' could be in order.

Let's get rid of them all and allow us to handle the situation… yeah right because that's always worked! I know let's pretend that for every situation that could possibly happen is always someone else's fault!o_O How about changing the meaning of words? That way we can cancel what hurts our feelings!

Remember this… lack of training and lack of education along with reading/hearing bs from politicians or media will always feel great but knee jerk reactions have never been good! And RIGHTS of individuals is NOT enforced by government!

My autistic child accidently dialed 911 today (Sat). But here is the messed up part, the phone he used is no longer in service yet they were able to trace it to my home anyway...
I guess what they say is true, they know everything anyway so I might as well form 1 my SP5. If the time comes to kick down my door to take my guns it wont matter if I form 1 them or not...

They took the typical "at the ready stance" when addressing me. The one talking to me walked down to my yard after pounding on my door (before I opened the door, not after of course), shifted to the side to get me to expose myself more while talking to him (did not work, I knew what they were doing) the other two took a 9 and 3 o'clock stance on the sides of him in the fake "relaxed look mode" it was obvious they knew there were guns in my residence and wanted to be ready for a possible encounter. The two on either side of the addressing individual could take me out if I did anything. I am ex leo myself so I know the drill. The problem is that I would not do anything stupid and my child was right there, but the mere fact that they were expecting a problem outright and they allowed that to control their behavior is troubling. Back in my day we knew the drill but we were also taught how to spot when a problem might occur, not just assume that one was going to happen right from the get go....

I need to move the f_uck out of this city and state... the anti-gun sentiment, the liberal/leftist politics is making it unbearable to live here...
As former LEO myself, yea 911 hang ups are a big red flag for the police. And yep, they show up with their game face on.
im a little unsympathetic to your complaint. Maybe they should have just ignored your 911 call, because of course everyone knows the's not a chance there could be a problem at your house.
And yep, being former LE, I'm surprised you don't know all cell phones are capable of making 911 calls whether they have active service contracts or not.

If you read through all the threads you would see that I said I do know that, and yes they should've ignored it because I don't need them. Perhaps I should put a big sign saying police don't f_cking come on my property regardless of anything happening there and if I have to dispatch somebody I can just dump the cuffed scumbag on the street for them..
Would something like that be preferable for you?

I'll bet they have a LOT more hang-ups now than they ever have in potland. It's common to be put on hold on a weekend night, but these days you get put on hold mid-day on a Wednesday! I'd guess potland doesn't have the manpower to send the officers to hang-ups these days. What's the point of staying on the line if have info of what's going on RIGHT NOW, but it's gone down the road buy the time 911 picks up in 10 minutes? No one supports our police officers more than me. It's the upper management that needs the boot!

When my kids were little, this damn cartoon lead two of them to make false 911 calls with out us knowing

I guess "They" don't trust you to teach your kids what to do in an emergency. "They" also start teaching kids, in third grade, in potland public schools that they "Could" be a boy OR girl, regardless of what they see when they look between their legs.
